Job description

We are looking for a BI Business Partner to join our growing Data Team. The BI Business Partner acts as the critical link between the business and the BI development team, ensuring that everything the team builds is grounded ina real businessneed.

Sitting between our stakeholders across the firm and our BI Developers, this role translates business questions into clear, well-defined requirements, and works with the BI Manager to prioritise the JIRA backlog so the team is always working on what matters most. This is a highly collaborative, stakeholder-facing role suited to someone who can speak the language of both the business and the data team, and who takes ownership of outcomes rather than just outputs., * Act as the primary gobetween for business stakeholders and the BI developers, ensuring requirements are clearly understood on both sides.

  • Partner with business stakeholders across the firm (e.g. financial planning, operations, compliance) to understand their goals and translate them intowelldefinedBI requirements.
  • Challenge and refine incoming requests to ensure the underlying business question is properly understood before development begins, not just the surface-level ask.
  • Work closely with the BI Manager to prioritise the JIRA backlog, ensuring tickets are well-scoped, appropriately sequenced, and reflect business value and urgency.
  • Own the creation and upkeep of epics, storiesand tickets in JIRA, including acceptance criteria, so developers have what they need to build the right solution first time.
  • Validate delivered dashboards, reportsand data products against the original business question, ensuring genuine business value is delivered not just a technically complete ticket.
  • Provide regular visibility to stakeholders on progress, timelinesandtradeoffs, managing expectations proactively.
  • Identifyrecurring themes or gaps in business requests and feed these back into the team’s roadmap and prioritisation discussions.
  • Support adoption of delivered BI solutions, gathering feedback and feeding enhancement requests back into the backlog.
  • Champion best practice in requirementgathering and backlog management across the wider BI team.

Requirements

  • Degreelevel qualification (2:1 or higher), ideally in a related field, and around 5 years’ experience in BI development, data analysis, or a similar role.
  • Experience in wealth management, asset management, or broader financial services, with an understanding of the industry’s data and reporting needs.
  • Proven experience with Power BI dashboards and strong data visualisation skills enough to have informed conversations with developers on feasibility, datamodelsand designtradeoffs.
  • Advanced SQL skills.
  • Practical JIRA experience for backlog management, ticket writing and prioritisation (epics, sprints, story grooming).
  • A strongtrack recordas a business analyst, product owner, or BI/data business partner, turning ambiguous business needs into clear technical requirements.
  • A can-do, outcomes-first mindset using initiative to spot opportunities and solve challenges withdata, andthriving on suggesting solutions rather than just flagging issues.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communicationand interpersonal skills, with the confidence to challenge requests constructively across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • A genuine passion for data-driven insights and their impact on business performance.
