Job description

The Senior Systems Administrator will support the implementation and sustainment of a Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) physical access system. This role partners closely with the government Product Manager to provide technical direction, strategic solutions, operations and maintenance support, vendor coordination, and adherence to Agile methodologies including Scrum and Kanban. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise across multiple infrastructure domains, excellent communication skills, and the ability to operate independently while driving tasks to completion., * Provide development and operations & maintenance (O&M) support for a production system during core and non-core hours as mission requirements dictate.

  • Support installation, configuration, and validation of COTS software products in both test and production environments.
  • Coordinate integration activities with cross-functional teams including networking, server/virtualization administrators, identity and access management teams, and application owners.
  • Evaluate system requirements, dependencies, and integration points to ensure compatibility and operational readiness.
  • Support network connectivity requirements including ports, protocols, firewalls, and load balancers.
  • Coordinate server and virtual machine provisioning, configuration, and performance tuning activities.
  • Collaborate with database teams to configure, query, and troubleshoot Microsoft SQL Server environments.
  • Support authentication and authorization services, including Single Sign-On (SSO) and Microsoft Entra ID.
  • Work with APIs and integration frameworks, including Microsoft Graph, to support system interoperability and data exchange.
  • Assist with documentation required for accreditation, compliance, and security assessment activities.
  • Develop and maintain installation guides, configuration baselines, and operational procedures.
  • Perform hands-on troubleshooting and issue resolution throughout testing and deployment efforts.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and technical considerations to stakeholders and leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of overall experience.
  • Broad technical experience across networking, servers, virtualization, identity management, and system integration.
  • 7+ years of experience with: o Network connectivity troubleshooting, including ports, protocols, and firewalls. o Windows and/or Linux server environments. o Virtualization platforms such as VMware and Hyper-V. o Scripting and automation using PowerShell, Python, or similar technologies. o Authentication and identity services, including Microsoft Entra ID.

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting COTS product deployments within government environments.
  • Understanding of system accreditation, compliance frameworks, and security assessment processes.
  • Ability to interpret technical requirements, identify gaps, and coordinate with specialized teams to resolve issues.
  • Experience working within Agile, Scrum, and Kanban environments.
  • Experience using Atlassian tools including Jira and Confluence.
  • Exceptional analytical, planning, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and drive tasks through completion.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with CertiPath TrustVisitor or similar physical access management products.
