This role is responsible for reporting to a Team Leader/3rd Engineer and assisting cable jointers/ senior staff in managing business delivery and front-line support to manage routine maintenance and repairs for 640km of 22kV HV Cables, 1050km of 11kV HV Cables & 1360km of Pilot Cables. This role is also responsible for assisting the Development engineer in delivering internal HV, Pilot & fibre cable replacement projects. The role holder will require technical knowledge of Power & Electrical HV Cables assets in an operational orientated area., * Required to be competent to be able to assemble the correct tools, equipment and materials for the associated works.
- Required to be able to assist cable jointers in preparing cables ready for cable jointing activities.
- Required to assist and direct Support Technicians & apprentices.
- Required to assist with cable route, tunnel, and invert inspections.
- Required to assist with loading/off-loading vans and the start and finish of shifts and to account for all tools and materials.
- Competent in checking tools, equipment and materials to ensure they are fit for purpose and calibrated where required.
- Responsible for the co-ordination of internal operatives and working teams.
- Responsible for the co-ordination of Subcontract labour were hired in to aid with project works.
- Deal promptly and effectively with problems within his/her control.
- Report to others, deviations which cannot be solved.
- Follow the correct process/operations for the allocated task. * Establish and maintain communication with the relevant persons.
- Take action to rectify the defective asset.
- Support testing using correctly accessed equipment and methods.
- Complete documentation written and electronic in accordance with company procedures. * Ensure the site is secure at the end of each shift.
- Carry out all duties commensurate to the role.
- Manage a “zero tolerance” approach to safety incidents and responsible for Health and Safety both in Department and on working sites, and for implementing Quality Assurance and Safety Management Systems. Is to ensure compliance with LUL and legislative requirements including Health and Safety at work Act, Offices, Shops and Railway Premises Act, COSHH, Noise at Work, Electricity at Work, etc.
- Inspect and accept works carried out by sub-contractors. * Investigate, report and make recommendations on
- ncidents and accidents relating to the department. To be responsible for taking immediate action to prevent a recurrence and the implementation of recommendations resulting from formal enquires.
- To act as Site Person in Charge as required for both P&E Power Distribution & 3rd party works, to achieve P&E Power Distribution representation.
- To adhere to all of LU and P&E Power Distribution’s Health & Safety Policies and Procedures. * To ensure all documentation associated with tasks is completed to a defined satisfactory standard. The job holder is required to drive company vehicles, clean them and carry out vehicle checks as required. *

The job holder must be committed to LUL’s General Safety Policy statement and the Company’s safety programme and be aware of his/her contribution to the programme, including the requirement to monitor safety. he jobholder must be familiar with the safety legislation that is relevant to his/her post and comply with the necessary statutory requirements. These will include the Health & Safety at Work Act, Fire Precautions Act 1971 Health & Safety associated regulations.
- Ensure high standards of personal safety performance are maintained and achieved by self and staff.
- Undertake Pre - Work Risk assessments,performance and compliance with the systems established to assist in maintaining high safety standards.
- Investigate hazards and complete associated reports,
- Participate in toolbox talks
- Ensure safety remains paramount during any activity
- Attain all required P&E Power Distribution and LU licenses and permits for the execution of duties
- Maintain validity of Licenses passes and permits.
Requirements

At the present time TfL is unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role., * A minimum of 3 years’ experience in HV/LV Cables maintenance and installation. (Essential)
- Basic Electrical knowledge. (Essential)
- Knowledge of DC (Traction and Non-Traction) and LV & HV AC power systems. (Essential)
- Knowledge of Health and Safety at Work Act and associated legislation. (Essential)
- Knowledge of Safe Track Access/Protection. (Essential)
- Experienced in supervising/ organizing internal operatives & working teams. (Essential)
- Experienced in Co-ordinating external Subcontractors and or labour for internal project delivery.
- Good interpersonal, numerical and written skills.
- Knowledge of the company’s core IT Systems.
- Analytical approach to problem solving and a systematic approach to the planning and carrying out of asks.
- Full clean UK Driving Licence (Essential)
- Experience of working within confined spaces and the use of confined spaces equipment.
- Sentinel Card or Equivalent (Essential)
- PWT-EH (Essential)
