Job description

At Kraken, we’re looking for a Graduate Software Engineer to join our growing team in Hampshire. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers, contributing to the development of mission-critical software systems while gaining hands-on experience across the full software development lifecycle.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Graduate Software Engineer, you will:

  • Support the design, development and maintenance of software solutions
  • Write clean, efficient and maintainable code
  • Assist with software testing, debugging and fault finding
  • Support software integration with hardware and engineering systems
  • Participate in code reviews and technical discussions
  • Create and maintain technical documentation
  • Contribute to system validation and verification activities
  • Learn and apply software engineering best practices
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across the team

Requirements

Are you a recent Software Engineering or Computer Science graduate looking to kick-start your career in a cutting-edge engineering environment?, Essential:

  • Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline
  • Understanding of software development principles and programming concepts
  • Experience with at least one programming language such as C, C++, Python or Java
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
  • Eagerness to learn and develop professionally

Desirable

  • Exposure to embedded software development
  • Experience using Git or other version control systems
  • Familiarity with Linux
  • Experience gained through university projects, placements or internships
