Founding Software Engineer

You will own our technical architecture, lead AI development, and work directly with the founding team and real hospital customers from day one. This is a key leadership position: you will be the person setting our technical direction and building our engineering foundation from the ground up.

What You Will Own

• Full end-to-end development: architecture, frontend, backend, and AI agent systems
• Building reliable, production-grade agentic workflows designed for human-in-the-loop use in regulated healthcare environments (LangGraph or similar)
• Solving the hard infrastructure problem that keeps most healthcare AI from working in the real world
• Making pragmatic architectural decisions that let us move fast without creating unmanageable technical debt
• Defining engineering practices as we hire and grow

Do you have experience in TypeScript?, * 5+ years of experience shipping production full-stack or AI applications, with at least one project taken from 0 to 1

• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and Python
• Full-stack experience with modern frameworks (Next.js/React and FastAPI or similar)
• Hands-on experience building AI agents or complex multi-step LLM workflows - LangGraph preferred
• Comfort using AI coding tools like Claude Code or Cursor to ship fast
• Ability to understand complex legacy enterprise workflows and reimagine them as intuitive, AI-native tools that deliver real value
• High ownership mindset: you help set the technical direction and are accountable for outcomes
• Healthcare or enterprise software experience is a plus, not required

We are looking for a key member of the founding team, not just a contractor. That said, we are flexible on how we structure the engagement to start. Whether that means beginning part-time and scaling up, or starting as a contractor and transitioning to a full-time employee after our next funding round, we are open to what works best for the right person.

This role has the potential to grow into a senior technical leadership position, depending on fit and how the company evolves. We are committed to finding the right structure for the right candidate.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year

At AMS Health AI, we’re rebuilding how the $1.5T medical supply chain runs. Hospitals still operate on decades-old systems and fragmented workflows, while suppliers use AI to optimize pricing against procurement teams that don’t have the same tools. We’re closing that gap. We layer modern UX on top of legacy hospital infrastructure and bring LLM-powered analytics, intelligent decision support, and human-in-the-loop agentic workflows to teams that have been stuck in spreadsheets for years.

We’re already running pilots with hospital systems, driving meaningful cost reduction and faster procurement cycles. Early traction is real, the market is massive, and the problem is one of the most impactful in US healthcare. What hospitals spend on supplies directly affects what they can spend on patients.

We’ve raised a $1M seed round and are looking for a founding engineer to join at the stage where the work you do shapes the company and one of the most important and underserved areas of healthcare.
