Job description
As a Jr. Data Center Technician with ThinkOn, you will be responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of the Data Center. Responsibilities range from registering customers, performing remote hands requests, facility rounds, records keeping, and the installation of equipment or cross-connects.
The Data Center Technician Jr will need to follow established procedures and maintain excellent customer communications. As such, this role will clearly identify the customer’s needs, document each request in the ticketing system, and execute the request. This role will provide excellent customer service that ThinkOn is known for following up on each request until completion and starting escalations as required.
The Data Center Technician Jr will keep the facility safe and secure by monitoring the central environment monitoring system and acting promptly on any failure or alarm.
You Will:
- Monitor security and environmental monitoring systems of the Data Center
- Apply security policies and procedures
- Validate that all equipment is in food working condition such as CRAC, UPS, PDU’s Generators, and all other facilities related equipment
- Conduct facility rounds and take readings off equipment (Electrical and Cooling) and fill the related reports
- Take customer calls, open and document tickets, and do facility related escalations to vendors
- Execute customers support requests
- Document all interventions and keep the ticketing system up to date
- Perform cabling, racking, and all pre/post work for customer onboarding and offboarding
- Maintain detailed site specification documentation on customers cross-connects and cables
- Keep the data center clean
- Interact with different organizations, customers, vendors, contractors, and building management to provide a high level of customer satisfaction
- Be responsible for asset management: process deliveries and replenish consumable
- Manage installs against aggressive schedules
- Participate in facilities maintenance and vendor management
- Assist with shipping/receiving
- Be available for 7/24 support/coverage (based on team needs)
- Take service desk calls and participate in supporting ThinkOn internal corporate systems
- Provide incident management and escalation processes for all ThinkOn product and service issues
- Provide technical support and escalations to second level support and vendors
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience in similar critical facilities and IT support
- Technical and mechanical knowledge on the latest generation transport gear, critical infrastructure (HVAC systems, high-voltage electrical systems, DC Power Plants,etc) found in Telecommunications facilities
- Very good understanding of IT systems including, but not limited to, servers and network systems
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office
