Information Management Technical Advisor

The IM Tech Advisor is responsible for technical solutions for country programmes and head office to enable improvements in information life cycle management. The advisor d rive s the management, design, deve lopment a nd maintenanc e of inform ation manageme nt functionality and solutions and the provision of technical support for the optimal , effective utilisation of information management platforms and tools in OCA.

Responsibilit ies and tasks

• You develop and maintain insights in the needs of the organisation, translate operational, technical and specifically information management needs into solutions, automations and workflows using your expert knowledge and technical expertise .

• You are an expert in computational archival science (transdisciplinary field grounded in archival, information, and computational science) and provide advice on the application of computational methods and resources, design patterns, large-scale (big data) records/archives processing, analysis, storage, long-term preservation, and access problems, with the aim of improving and optimising efficiency, authenticity, trustworthiness, provenance, productivity, information structure and design, precision, and human technology interaction.

• You work closely with stakeholders in the organisation and colleagues in your team to come to an agreed prioritisation and you manage expectations accordingly. As technica l advisor y ou provide expertise for design, development and implementation of information management functionality/solutions across OCA’s systems/applications.

• You gather and elaborate technical requirements and drive the design and development of information and life cycle management functionality through external supplier(s), in coordination with (departmental, organisational and intersectional) stakeholders/end users. You ensure the quality of the outcomes and their implementation.

• I n compliance with the information security policy suite, you decide on access, permissions and other information security measures. You analyse and resolve user issues and technical problems. You work together across MSF internationally to accomplish synergy for MSF information and life cycle management efforts.

• You are expected to visit teams/ projects in project countries and partner sections regularly (1 to 2 country program visits per year, which can be between 1 to 4 weeks each. Visits to partner section offices depend on organisational needs, on average 1 to 3 per year .

• 5+ years of relevant working experience in the Information Management domain and Computational Archival Science

• BSs/MSc in your area of expertise and/or equivalent working experience in Technical Information Management/Computer Science/Computational Science

• English (Proficiency in an additional relevant language spoken in operational countries is highly desirable)

• In-depth knowledge of digital information management platforms ( MSF) support processes & integration . In-dept knowledge of planning, technical design, Microsoft 365 environment and ISO (e.g. ISO 15489, ISO 16175, ISO 27001, OAIS)

• Willing to travel to country programmes and partner sections multiple times a year

This is a permanent role. We always start off with a 12-month contract, with the intention of renewing based on performance .
