Job description

You’ll play a critical role behind the scenes by ensuring specimens are properly processed, handled, and delivered for testing., The Pre-Analytical Assistant I supports laboratory operations by ensuring specimens are accurately received, processed, stored, and delivered for testing. Your attention to detail and commitment to quality help maintain efficient workflow and ensure reliable test results.

What You’ll Do

  • Sort, rack, centrifuge, aliquot, store, and transport specimens throughout the laboratory

  • Assist with specimen pickup and delivery to designated laboratory departments

  • Identify specimen issues such as missing information or incorrect specimen types and escalate as needed

  • Research test order information and follow compliance requirements related to laboratory testing

  • Complete required documentation accurately and within established timelines

  • Maintain quality and productivity standards in a high-volume production environment

  • Support departmental operations by cross-training in additional laboratory functions

  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow all safety and workplace procedures

Requirements

  • A current, up-to-date resume

  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • Strong organizational and data entry skills

  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced production environment

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Medical background or familiarity with medical terminology preferred

  • Previous experience in a production environment preferred

  • Familiarity with mainframe computer systems preferred

  • Ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to meet compliance requirements
