Chief Technology Officer (CTO)

This is a job for someone who wants their engineering decisions to move the needle on climate, not just optimize uptime. Earthkeep’s CTO owns the technical architecture that makes the “data center + farm” model actually work - the systems, standards, and engineering judgment that turn a resource-sharing concept into a facility that a hyperscale or AI-compute tenant will sign a lease for, and that a greenhouse operator can actually run on the heat and CO2 it produces.

What you’ll do

• Define Earthkeep’s technical playbook for colocating data center and controlled-environment-agriculture infrastructure: power delivery, cooling, heat recovery, and CO2 capture/distribution.
• Act as Earthkeep’s technical counterpart to specialized delivery partners (CHP engineering firms, data center construction partners, tenant technical teams), setting standards and holding the line on what Earthkeep owns versus what it contracts out.
• Lead technical diligence on prospective sites and technical due diligence from prospective tenants and investors.
• Build the technical roadmap for replicating the model across future sites in the UK and US, turning site #1’s lessons into a repeatable design.
• Recruit and eventually lead a technical team as the company scales past its first flagship project.
• Build a pipeline of future projects: build and feed the funnel; seek and solicit future sites, screen with investment committee, etc., * If you’re shortlisted, we’ll let you know within a week and set up a short video call - under an hour of your time.
• We’ll send you a hypothetical site’s technical setup - power, cooling, and heat-recovery design. Use your expertise to flag what would and wouldn’t work, and what you’d change. Under an hour of your time.

• Senior technical leadership experience in data centers, energy infrastructure, or industrial/process engineering - ideally with exposure to both power/cooling systems and a second, unrelated technical domain (agriculture, process heat, or similar), reflecting the hybrid nature of the role.
• Credentials: strong education in engineering, computer science, or related fields
• Comfort operating as a technical generalist and translator at an early-stage company, not just a specialist in one system.
• Experience working with or managing external engineering/construction partners on capital projects.
• Genuine interest in sustainability-driven infrastructure design, not just conventional data center delivery.
• Based in or willing to relocate to Amsterdam.
