Job description

We’re seeking a DevOps Engineer (IT Production Support) to own the application middle-tier environment for a large enterprise application portfolio - Oracle WebLogic across on-prem Solaris/Linux and cloud, plus Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines., * Plan, install, configure, secure, patch, and support WebLogic and Oracle HTTP Server across Solaris/Linux and Windows environments, including zones/containers

  • Deploy and troubleshoot JAR, WAR, and EAR files in both domain and clustered configurations
  • Configure and deploy HTTPS/SSL certificates for secure site access
  • Build and own a patching strategy covering regular security updates

Performance and troubleshooting

  • Monitor and tune application server performance - thread usage, connection pool utilization, CPU and memory
  • Analyze log files, thread dumps, JVM dumps, and exception stack traces to root-cause production issues
  • Set up and monitor scheduled batch jobs and system alerts supporting 24x7 availability

DevOps and cloud

  • Manage CI/CD pipelines and Kubernetes environments (AKS, ARO) alongside cloud services
  • Work directly with developers to deploy and manage code changes through established change management processes

Operations and resilience

  • Run periodic disaster recovery tests for application server environments; maintain DR documentation and procedures
  • Install, configure, and monitor COTS products including Xerox DocuShare, OpenText, Liquid Office, HP Quality Center, Tableau, and ESRI ArcGIS
  • Respond to service desk tickets, follow outage communication protocol, file incident reports, escalate as needed
  • Liaise directly with Oracle and other vendors on technical escalations
  • Maintain application/software inventory and infrastructure diagrams; produce configuration and support documentation

Requirements

  • 6-8+ years administering Oracle WebLogic at scale in Unix/Linux environments
  • Hands-on install, configure, manage, monitor, and troubleshoot experience across Oracle WebLogic, Oracle Application Server, Oracle Reports Server, and OBIEE/OAS
  • Experience on Oracle Solaris (10, 11) including LDOMs, ZFS file systems, and zones/containers
  • Working experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes (AKS, ARO), and cloud services
  • Solid grounding in J2EE technologies - Java Servlets, EJB, JSP, HTML, JavaScript - plus SSL/HTTPS, Oracle RDBMS, and Windows Server/IIS
  • Unix shell scripting and Python for automation and operational tooling
  • Experience with IBM MQ Series
  • Code deployment through a formal change management process using TFS or equivalent version management
  • Experience configuring and managing COTS platforms (DocuShare, OpenText, Liquid Office, HP Quality Center, Tableau, ESRI ArcGIS, or comparable)
  • Strong problem-solving and customer service orientation; able to communicate across technical and non-technical audiences
  • Comfortable multitasking in a high-pressure production environment, working independently or as part of a team
  • Availability for after-hours and weekend support as needed

Preferred

  • Prior experience in a large enterprise, government, or public sector IT operations environment
  • Experience operating under formal security and data retention policies
