Job description
The Release Train Engineer (RTE) is the servant leader and facilitator for the Agile Release Train (ART), responsible for enabling successful delivery of strategic business and technology initiatives. The role drives program execution, aligns teams to enterprise priorities, manages dependencies, risks, and governance, and promotes continuous improvement to accelerate value delivery across the organization., * Lead and facilitate ART ceremonies, including PI Planning, ART Syncs, Scrum of Scrums, System Demos, and Inspect & Adapt events.
- Drive execution of complex, cross-functional initiatives aligned with strategic business objectives and transformation goals.
- Ensure alignment between portfolio priorities, roadmaps, capacity, and delivery execution.
- Proactively manage program risks, issues, dependencies, and impediments, escalating where necessary to maintain delivery commitments.
- Provide executive-ready reporting and insights on program health, PI objectives, delivery predictability, capacity, risks, and value realization.
- Partner with Product Management, Architecture, Portfolio Management, Business Leaders, and Delivery Teams to ensure alignment and transparency.
- Foster Lean-Agile practices, operational excellence, and continuous improvement across the ART.
- Enable adoption and optimization of delivery tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Smartsheet, and Power BI.
- Support enterprise transformation efforts through Agile coaching, change enablement, and organizational alignment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- 12+ years of experience in Program Management, Agile Delivery, Enterprise Transformation, or related leadership roles.
- 4+ years of people management experience.
- Leadership experience, managing teams of Scrum Masters and Outside Service Workers.
- Experience building, developing, and retaining high performing teams in Agile delivery.
- 5+ years supporting Agile Release Trains or large-scale Agile delivery organizations.
- Strong knowledge of SAFe, Lean-Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid delivery methodologies.
- Proven experience managing large-scale programs, cross-functional dependencies, risks, and stakeholder relationships.
- Experience with Jira, Azure DevOps, Smartsheet, Power BI, and enterprise delivery reporting tools.
- Strong facilitation, communication, analytical, and executive stakeholder management skills.
- SAFe RTE, SPC 5.5 or higher and PMP required.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson’s pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position $140,300 - $233,800
