Staff Software Engineer, Frontend Infra

About Client: A high-growth startup discovery platform helping top VCs identify and fund the next generation of category-defining companies. Growing revenue 100%+ annually, backed by top-tier investors, working at the scale of hundreds of users querying millions of companies.

What You’ll Do

• Fix core reliability issues: error boundaries, state management, data consistency
• Optimize performance: virtualization for large datasets, bundle optimization, render performance
• Build monitoring and observability to catch issues before users do
• Establish testing strategies that prevent regressions
• Create abstractions/patterns that help engineers ship faster without breaking things
• Drive technical decisions and mentor the team through complex migrations

• Deep expertise in React, TypeScript, and modern build tooling
• Significant experience optimizing infrastructure performance (reducing lag, latency, etc.)
• Track record fixing production performance issues at scale
• Fluency with AI-assisted development tools (Copilot, Cursor, etc.)
• Backend-leaning thinking - able to reason about data layer, APIs, and system boundaries

Nice-to-Have

• Experience with discovery, search, or recommendation systems
• Background at a Tier 1 VC-backed startup, big tech with rapid promotions, or a database-heavy company (e.g., LinkedIn, Notion), * 7+ years in frontend infrastructure with demonstrated scope expansion (promotions into Staff-level ownership, platform-wide impact)
• Strong communicator - direct, goes deep under probing, not surface-level
• High energy, collaborative, genuine enthusiasm for the company’s mission

• Pure feature/product frontend engineers with no platform ownership (biggest sourcing miss) - must have owned shared infrastructure, build systems, or platform-level concerns
