Principal Software Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Direction: Define and influence technical approaches for complex software initiatives, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, maintainable, and aligned with business requirements.

Software Architecture: Work with engineering and architecture teams to design robust application architectures, integration patterns, APIs, and distributed systems.

Complex Problem Solving: Investigate challenging technical issues and provide practical solutions involving performance, scalability, reliability, security, and system integration.

Engineering Standards: Help establish and improve coding standards, development practices, testing strategies, code quality processes, and engineering documentation.

Technical Mentoring: Support Senior and Mid-level Software Engineers through technical guidance, design discussions, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.

Cross Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product, Project Management, DevOps, Security, and other technical teams to ensure engineering decisions support wider business objectives.

Technical Reviews: Review system designs, implementation approaches, and major technical decisions while identifying risks and opportunities for improvement.

8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong track record of designing and delivering complex production systems.

Technical Background: Strong experience with modern programming languages, software architecture, APIs, databases, cloud platforms, distributed systems, automated testing, and continuous delivery practices.

Engineering Leadership: You have demonstrated the ability to influence technical direction and mentor experienced engineers without relying on formal executive or management authority.

Architecture Skills: You can translate complex business requirements into practical technical designs and clearly explain architectural trade offs to both technical and non technical stakeholders.

Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, product, operations, and business teams.

Mindset: You are pragmatic and delivery focused. You know when to introduce sophisticated engineering solutions and when a simpler approach will provide greater reliability and business value.
