Job description

The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) is a full-time, US remote position reporting directly to the CEO and working alongside the Chief Innovation Officer, who leads research and owns the company’s patent-pending IP. The CTO is responsible for owning technical strategy, architecture, and engineering execution across Phasimation’s AI animation platform and the LatentGalaxy synthetic data exchange. This role will translate the company’s research in generative video control and latent manifold addressing into production systems, setting the architecture for both a consumer-facing SaaS product and enterprise-grade federated data infrastructure. The CTO will build and lead the engineering organization, including hiring, mentoring, and establishing engineering standards, development processes, and security practices from the ground up. Day-to-day, the CTO will make build-vs-buy decisions, manage technical roadmaps against product and business milestones, oversee ML pipeline and infrastructure costs, and collaborate with research, product, and go-to-market teams to keep the roadmap aligned with customer needs. The role will also support fundraising and enterprise sales through technical due diligence, represent Phasimation’s technology to partners, customers, and standards bodies, and contribute to the company’s IP strategy alongside the Chief Innovation Officer and outside counsel.

Requirements

  • 10+ Years of software engineering experience, including 4+ years in senior technical leadership roles (CTO, VP Engineering, or equivalent) with direct ownership of architecture and team building.
  • Demonstrated experience shipping ML/AI products to production, ideally in generative AI, computer vision, or media/entertainment technology.
  • Strong background in distributed systems and data infrastructure, including marketplace, exchange, or federated architectures, with working knowledge of privacy, security, and compliance considerations for enterprise data.
  • Hands-on proficiency in modern ML stacks (Python, PyTorch or equivalent, GPU infrastructure, cloud platforms) and the judgment to balance research ambition with production reliability and cost.
  • Proven success recruiting, leading, and mentoring distributed engineering teams in high-growth or startup environments.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts in clear, business-focused language to investors, enterprise customers, and non-technical stakeholders, including participation in fundraising and sales-cycle technical diligence.
  • Comfort operating in an early-stage environment, including willingness for early stage style compensation packages.

About the company

Phasimation is building core technology and a marketplace (LatentGalaxy) for next-generation motion picture creation that respects creators/performers and protects creative IP. Originating from ARwall, the team brings a decade of experience in XR/AI hybrid virtual production for studios such as Disney, Warner Bros., Sony, and Netflix. The company is pioneering a new field called latent manifold addressing (LMA), a method for mapping and validating attribution of a genAI model’s latent representation back to a creator or IP owner using a federated data exchange. This technology is grounded in emerging signal-processing quantum astrophysics research and enables end-to-end attribution and accuracy that links source to any generated content incorporating that work. Phasimation is building a data infrastructure focused on quality, fairness, and decentralization, correcting fundamental issues in early generative AI ecosystems.
