Job description

We are seeking an experienced Release Train Engineer (RTE) to lead the establishment and evolution of an Agile Release Train (ART) supporting a large-scale enterprise transformation. This role will serve as the servant leader and coach for a distributed organization comprised of product, platform, and enabling teams, driving improved delivery predictability, alignment, and execution across the portfolio.

The ideal candidate has successfully launched Agile Release Trains from the ground up, transformed underperforming SAFe environments, and influenced teams and leaders to adopt effective agile delivery practices. This is a highly visible leadership role requiring strong facilitation, coaching, and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and launch an Agile Release Train, including recommendations on train structure and team-of-teams operating models.
  • Lead and facilitate key SAFe ceremonies, including PI Planning, ART Syncs, Scrum of Scrums, System Demos, and Inspect & Adapt workshops.
  • Assess the current agile delivery framework and develop a roadmap to improve SAFe maturity, execution, and team effectiveness.
  • Manage cross-team dependencies, risks, and impediments across product, platform, and enabling teams.
  • Drive alignment and coordination across distributed teams operating in onshore, nearshore, and offshore delivery models.
  • Monitor and communicate ART-level metrics, delivery predictability, risks, and progress to leadership stakeholders.
  • Coach Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and team leaders on SAFe principles, practices, and execution.
  • Partner with organizational leaders to support adoption of agile processes and sustainable delivery improvements.

Requirements

  • Proven experience serving as a Release Train Engineer in large enterprise environments.
  • Demonstrated success launching at least one Agile Release Train from inception through operational maturity.
  • Experience assessing and improving partially adopted or underperforming SAFe implementations.

  • Deep knowledge of SAFe frameworks, PI Planning, dependency management, and ART execution.
  • Experience leading delivery across multiple distributed teams, including onshore, nearshore, and offshore resources.
  • Experience coordinating work across both employee and vendor/contractor organizations.
  • Strong facilitation, conflict resolution, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven ability to lead through influence rather than direct authority.
  • SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE) certification required; SAFe Program Consultant (SPC) certification preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within financial services, insurance, automotive finance, or related regulated industries.
  • Experience partnering closely with change management or transformation leadership teams.
  • Experience supporting product, platform, and enabling teams within complex enterprise environments.
