Job description
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Infrastructure & Cloud Architect to join a global Technology Architecture & Engineering function. This role is responsible for defining and delivering enterprise-scale infrastructure and cloud solutions, shaping technical strategy, and guiding engineering teams across a complex, multi-platform environment.
You will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and supporting core infrastructure across cloud, hybrid, and on-premises environments, ensuring systems are secure, scalable, resilient, and aligned with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver enterprise-scale infrastructure and cloud architectures across Azure, AWS, and on-prem platforms
- Define technical standards, reference architectures, and long-term roadmaps across infrastructure domains
- Research, evaluate, and recommend technology solutions to address business needs
- Lead the architecture, engineering, and deployment of production systems, including full design documentation
- Ensure environments are optimised for performance, resilience, security, and scalability
- Transition solutions into operations, providing documentation and training to technical teams
- Lead and contribute to complex technical projects across the department
- Act as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor to engineering and business stakeholders
- Provide high-level escalation support, working with vendors and third parties to resolve critical issues
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold best practices in all aspects of technology delivery
Requirements
- Strong expertise in virtualisation and hyperconverged infrastructure (ideally Nutanix)
- Deep understanding of cloud architecture across Azure and AWS (including IAM, landing zones, hybrid connectivity)
- Advanced knowledge of networking (routing, switching, and packet analysis)
- Strong background in security and encryption best practices
- Experience with monitoring and maintaining mission-critical systems
- Solid understanding of storage technologies (NAS/SAN and virtualised storage)
- Proficiency in PowerShell and Scripting
- Ability to define cross-domain architecture and influence enterprise-wide technology decisions
- Experience evaluating vendors and selecting technologies aligned to business and security requirements
Skills & Experience
- Bachelorâs degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field
- 15+ yearsâ experience in IT, including: 10+ years in engineering roles, 5+ years in a senior technical or subject matter expert capacity
- Proven experience working in large-scale enterprise environments
- Strong track record of leading complex technical projects
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
- A proactive mindset with a passion for learning new technologies
- Strong communication skills with a business-focused approach to technology
