Job description

Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Work with staff in a positive and effective manner; maintain the confidentiality of students, staff, and district information.
  • Serve as on-site smart hands for network and server infrastructure work (e.g., Windows Server, Active Directory, switches, firewalls, wireless access points) as directed by District IT leadership or its managed service provider.
  • Develop and maintain scripts or automation tools to streamline routine IT tasks.
  • Direct, monitor, and hold accountable technology vendors and contractors to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to district standards.
  • Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot Chromebook, Windows, and iPad devices using Google Admin Console, JAMF, and related management platforms.
  • Set up, support, and maintain classroom AV equipment, including Smartboards, projectors, TVs, and interactive displays.
  • Provide Help Desk, in person, and remote support; act as the primary Tier 2/3 escalation point for complex issues involving workstations, operating systems (Windows/macOS/ChromeOS), printing, access control, and internet connectivity, driving issues to swift, root-cause resolution rather than temporary fixes.
  • Maintain accurate records in the district’s IT ticketing and asset management systems.
  • Assist with the support and maintenance of door fob and camera systems.
  • Provide export and report support for Skyward Q software - Finance & Student
  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a closely related field (Bachelor’s degree preferred) or Industry Certification Equivalent related to the job description
  • Minimum of four (4) years of related experience in user support, computer hardware/software troubleshooting, and Windows and/or ChromeOS device management, with some exposure to network and server infrastructure (e.g., Windows Server, Active Directory, switches, firewalls, wireless access points); or equivalent vocational/technical education/certification
  • Experience with scripting or automation (e.g., PowerShell) to streamline IT tasks
  • Experience supporting technology vendors, contracts, and/or IT projects from planning through completion
  • Experience deploying, managing, and troubleshooting Chromebook, Windows, and iPad device fleets using Google Admin Console, JAMF, and related device management platforms
  • Knowledge of door fob, camera, and student management systems a plus
  • Experience setting up, supporting, and maintaining classroom AV equipment, including Smartboards, projectors, TVs, and interactive displays
  • Knowledge of Skyward Q Finance and Student a plus
  • Familiarity with IT ticketing systems and asset management/inventory tracking
  • Certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or Google/Microsoft/Apple device management certifications) a plus
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently, solve problems logically, learn new systems quickly, and carry out assignments with minimal direct supervision
  • Possesses a valid Wisconsin driver’s license for travel between district school buildings

About the company

The Sauk Prairie School District is looking to hire a full time Technology Support Specialist. The purpose of this position is to perform district-wide duties providing advanced technical support for end users, classroom technology, and device fleets across the district. Employees in this role function primarily at an advanced operational and troubleshooting capacity, performing a variety of duties including device fleet and classroom AV support, technology project and vendor coordination, and serving as on-site “smart hands” for network and server infrastructure work directed by District IT leadership or its managed service provider. This position also serves as a senior technical resource for site-based staff and personnel, including the Software Support Associate, on complex or escalated technical issues.
