Job description

Systems Engineer/Systems Administrator (Contract) - Outside IR35

Contract: 6 Months Working Pattern: Hybrid - 3 days onsite, 2 days remote

We’re looking for an experienced, hands-on Systems Engineer/Systems Administrator to join a busy infrastructure team. This role has been created to provide additional support across a 3rd Line function that is balancing day-to-day operational support with a wide range of ongoing infrastructure and business projects.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and has a strong support background rather than a project management or consultancy focus. The Role

You’ll become an integral part of the 3rd Line Infrastructure team, supporting both BAU operations and project-related requests across the business. While you won’t be delivering projects directly, you’ll provide the technical expertise needed to support multiple initiatives including security, CRM, infrastructure, server migrations and end-user computing.

The role offers a genuine mix of responsibilities, making it perfect for an engineer who enjoys getting involved in “a bit of everything.” Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 3rd Line infrastructure and technical support across the business.
  • Support ongoing infrastructure and migration projects.
  • Assist with Identity & Access Management (IAM) related activities.
  • Support server and platform migrations, including Legacy infrastructure and on-premise file servers.
  • Maintain and support Windows Server environments.
  • Support networking infrastructure including Fortinet and Cisco Meraki technologies.
  • Provide support for Microsoft 365, including Intune rollouts.
  • Administer and support Okta environments.
  • Work closely with internal teams to resolve technical requests generated through IT support and project activities.
  • Operate within an ITIL-based support environment, participating in sprint-based work where required.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in a hands-on 3rd Line Infrastructure Support role.
  • Strong Windows Server administration experience.
  • Hyper-V administration knowledge.
  • Experience supporting VMware environments.
  • Networking experience with Fortinet and/or Cisco Meraki.
  • Microsoft 365 administration.
  • Intune deployment and support experience.
  • Okta administration experience.
  • Experience supporting infrastructure, networking and end-user computing (EUC) environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Previous experience working within an ITIL support framework.

Ideal Background

We’re keen to speak with engineers who have:

  • A strong support engineering background
  • Experience working within Managed Service Providers (MSPs) or delivering infrastructure support through contract assignments.
  • A proactive, collaborative approach and the ability to work across multiple technical disciplines.
