Job description

Our team at the BMW Group conducts finite element analysis simulations of the car body. We continuously improve our workflows and simulations using Python. As a working student, you support us in advancing our simulation methods.

What awaits you?

  • You support our simulation team for the car body and contribute to projects that improve workflows and simulations.
  • Furthermore, you help develop, implement and evaluate code for our car body workflows, investigating processes for different methods.
  • In addition, you assist with basic tasks such as data analysis and management presentations.
  • Moreover, you contribute to your own methodological investigations under guidance.

Requirements

  • Studies in computer science, software engineering, (mechanical) engineering or related fields with focus on programming or machine learning, second half of bachelor or master studies.
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience in Python, machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow are advantageous.
  • Experience in software engineering principles such as test-driven development, code reviews and Git branching, familiarity with Linux systems.
  • Knowledge of AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, effective prompt engineering and automating agent-based workflows.
  • Basic knowledge in acoustics, structural dynamics, stochastics and fatigue as well as MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint is advantageous.
  • Structured, analytical and creative thinking combined with strong team and communication skills and open-mindedness.
  • Fluent English language skills required, German language skills are advantageous.
