Job description

We’re looking for a WordPress Developer who pays attention to how sites actually run once they’re live.

You’ll be building and maintaining WordPress sites, but also digging into performance, accessibility, and general cleanup across client work and a few internal tools.

You’ll be working with a small team across design, SEO, and client services. The work is a mix of new builds and ongoing fixes and improvements, so you’ll need to be comfortable jumping between things.

Core Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain custom WordPress themes and functionality
  • Develop new websites from Figma designs, including content population, QA, and launch readiness
  • Support ongoing enhancements and optimization across client websites
  • Improve Core Web Vitals, accessibility, and overall site performance

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain Gutenberg blocks (ACF-based)
  • Troubleshoot issues and improve overall site stability
  • Support technical SEO best practices including site structure, redirects, and internal linking
  • Implement schema and structured data
  • Develop and integrate REST APIs, including custom WordPress routes
  • Provide support for internal WordPress-based tools as needed
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to development standards and documentation
  • Collaborate with designers, SEOs, and account managers
  • Occasionally participate in client-facing discussions when needed

Requirements

Do you have experience in React?, * Strong experience with PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (minimal dependencies preferred)

  • Deep understanding of WordPress development including hooks, theme/plugin architecture, Gutenberg, and theme.json
  • Experience with Git workflows including pull requests and code reviews
  • Familiarity with CI/CD workflows (GitHub Actions, YAML)
  • Understanding of caching strategies and development environments (local, staging, production)
  • Proven ability to improve Core Web Vitals and accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA)
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
  • Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming principles
  • Ability to manage multiple projects without sacrificing quality
  • Clear communication and strong follow-through

Nice to Have

  • React-based Gutenberg block development
  • WooCommerce customization and performance optimization
  • CDNs and edge caching (e.g., Cloudflare)
  • WordPress Multisite experience
  • WP-CLI and advanced WordPress tooling
  • Accessibility testing tools (Axe, LambdaTest, etc.)
  • GA4, Search Console, and Tag Manager experience
  • Exposure to headless WordPress architectures
  • BigQuery or Looker Studio experience

How You Work

  • You think through problems instead of jumping to quick fixes
  • You balance speed with long-term maintainability
  • You’re comfortable shifting between projects without losing focus
  • You take ownership of your work and communicate clearly with the team
