Job description

We are now embarking on our new three year digital strategy and working at one of the most exciting and stretching periods in our evolution, the Deputy Chief Digital Information Officer will provide day to day operational management and strategic support to the CDIO. This role is essential in leading our Digital & Information Services to ensure that world-class clinical care and the safety of our children and young people remain at the heart of our digital excellence. You will help bridge the gap between shared vision and technical execution, ensuring GOSH maximises the opportunities of AI, ICT, and information to drive performance., * Develop and implement strategic plans for ICT services, infrastructure and cyber security that align with the Trust’s long-term goals and operational needs

  • Contribute to the design and execution of technology roadmaps covering data centres, cloud tenancies, application delivery, network capacity and cyber security infrastructure
  • Conduct research and make informed recommendations on emerging technologies, products and standards to support innovation and service improvement
  • Provide day-to-day leadership of the Digital & Information Services department, ensuring safe, effective and customer-focused operations.
  • Own operational performance management: service levels, availability, capacity, incident/problem management, demand and prioritisation across the portfolio.
  • Ensure robust operational governance (service reviews, risk and issue escalation, change control and clinical safety assurance where applicable).
  • Lead the operational response to major incidents affecting digital services, ensuring clear communications, rapid recovery and post-incident learning. Delivery and continuous improvement
  • Translate the Trust’s digital strategy and CDIO priorities into clear delivery plans, milestones and measurable outcomes for the department.
  • Drive continuous improvement and standardisation of processes, adopting appropriate best practice IT service management) to improve reliability and user experience.

Requirements

Desirable criteria

  • Ability to negotiate beneficial outcomes with suppliers and partners, * Master’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Demonstration of ongoing professional development, * Post-graduate diploma in Digital Health Leadership
  • Prince2, MSP or equivalent project/programme management qualification
  • ITIL support management qualification or equivalent, * Significant management experience in ICT within complex environments such as the NHS at Director level or above.
  • Proven experience of day to day management of large-scale ICT services, programme delivery, infrastructure and cyber security operations
  • Experience of managing significant operational and capital budgets (e.g. >£4m-£10m)
  • Experience of stakeholder engagement and communication at all levels including authoring
  • Experience of holding corporate responsibility for a substantial operational service area, including strategic and operational management of services, staff, budgets, risk and performance
  • Proven experience of leading the development, interpretation, implementation and monitoring of health service policy and strategy across a complex organisation
  • Experience of acting as a corporate decision maker, providing senior advice and taking delegated decisions on major service, financial, workforce, operational and risk matters
  • Experience of line-managing staff and leading multidisciplinary teams
  • In-depth knowledge of ICT systems, infrastructure and programme delivery
  • In depth knowledge of using data to driven operational outcomes and statutory returns.
  • Understanding of NHS-specific regulations including the Data Protection Act 2018, NIS Regulations, UK GDPR and DSPT
  • Experience of managing multi-vendor platforms and supplier relationships
  • Experience of delivering and managing complex transformation programmes
  • Knowledge of OJEU procurement and contract processes
