IT Manager

This isn’t a traditional IT Manager role where you’ll spend your time managing a large IT department. We’re looking for someone who is technically capable, hands-on and comfortable being the person who owns IT.

You’ll be responsible for the day-to-day IT operation across our sites, supporting colleagues, managing hardware and infrastructure, maintaining security and making sure our systems are reliable and fit for purpose. You’ll also manage and support an IT Administrator, providing direction, prioritising workloads and helping them develop their skills and knowledge.

You’ll also have the opportunity to shape how IT develops within CutMy.co.uk. That means identifying weaknesses, improving processes, introducing better ways of working and helping us make the most of technology across the business.

You’ll need to be comfortable switching between priorities - from getting a new starter set up in the morning, to troubleshooting a network issue, supporting your IT Administrator, reviewing security, managing suppliers or working on a longer-term IT improvement project.

What You’ll Do

• Own IT across the business: Take responsibility for the reliability, security and effectiveness of our IT environment across multiple sites
• Manage and develop your team: Provide day-to-day management, direction and support to our IT Administrator, ensuring workloads are prioritised and completed effectively
• Manage infrastructure: Maintain our network infrastructure, access points, cabling and connectivity across our on-site units
• Manage hardware: Oversee laptops, PCs, monitors, printers, scanners, handsets and other IT equipment throughout their lifecycle
• Own onboarding: Manage end-to-end IT onboarding for new starters, including devices, email, communication tools, software and access permissions
• Keep IT secure: Manage access controls, password management, 2FA and other security measures, ensuring good IT security practices are followed across the business
• Provide hands-on support: Act as the escalation point for IT issues, working through a structured support backlog and making sure issues are properly resolved rather than repeatedly patched
• Manage internal systems: Support telephony, production technology and other business-critical systems
• Improve IT processes: Introduce structure, standards and processes that make IT easier to manage and more reliable
• Manage suppliers and services: Work with external IT providers, software suppliers and service partners where required
• Document our environment: Maintain accurate documentation of systems, configurations, access and processes so that IT knowledge is properly captured
• Look ahead: Identify opportunities to improve our infrastructure, security, systems and use of technology across the business, * Varied work: From infrastructure and security to user support, projects, people management and process improvement, no two days will be quite the same

Pay: £30,000.00-£35,000.00 per year

You might currently be an IT Manager, IT Lead, Senior IT Administrator or experienced IT Support professional who is ready to take the next step. What matters most is that you’re technically confident, organised and able to operate independently, while also being comfortable managing and developing another IT professional., * Technically capable: Comfortable with Google Workspace administration, networking, hardware, user support and general IT infrastructure

• A good manager: Able to provide clear direction, support and development to an IT Administrator, while making sure they have the right priorities and support to succeed
• Self-sufficient: Able to manage your own workload, prioritise a support backlog and make sensible decisions without constant direction
• A problem solver: You don’t just fix the immediate issue - you look at why it happened and how we can prevent it happening again
• Good with people: Able to support colleagues with different levels of technical knowledge, explaining things clearly and patiently
• Organised: You keep track of issues, projects, assets, access and documentation
• Proactive: You spot problems and opportunities before they become bigger issues
• Security-conscious: You understand that good IT isn’t just about keeping things working - it’s also about protecting the business and its data

Experience

To be successful in this role, we’d ideally expect you to have:

• 5+ years’ experience working in IT support, administration, infrastructure or a similar technical environment
• 2+ years’ experience taking ownership of IT operations within a business
• 1+ years’ experience managing, supervising or mentoring an IT colleague
• 3+ years’ experience working with business IT infrastructure, hardware, networking, user accounts and cloud-based systems
• 2+ years’ experience delivering IT projects, system improvements or technology implementations
