Job description

iQuila Ltd is seeking an experienced, hands-on IT Manager to take ownership of the company’s internal IT environment across all current and future locations. This role is responsible for ensuring that iQuila’s internal systems, devices, users, policies, cloud services and access arrangements are secure, reliable, well managed and able to support the company’s rapid international growth.

The IT Manager will manage iQuila’s Microsoft-based internal systems, including Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Teams, Entra ID, Intune, Azure services, company devices, iQuila Enterprise access and Cisco-based network infrastructure. This is a senior practical role requiring strong technical capability, good judgement, clear communication and the ability to build scalable IT structure around day-to-day operations, global users, remote offices and business-critical support functions.

This is a hands-on leadership role, not a purely managerial position. The successful candidate must be comfortable both setting IT direction and personally resolving technical issues when required, including setting up PCs, laptops, devices, software and user access for staff.

Scope: This role is focused on iQuila’s internal IT environment only. It does not include operational responsibility for iQuila-hosted client environments, customer platforms or production client systems.

Key Responsibilities

· Own iQuila’s internal IT operations globally, keeping systems secure, reliable and fit for purpose.

· Administer Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Teams, Exchange Online, OneDrive, Entra ID, Intune and Azure services.

· Manage iQuila Enterprise access, secure remote office access, user permissions and connectivity.

· Manage Cisco switches, firewalls and wider network infrastructure across offices and remote users.

· Set up and support staff PCs, laptops, mobile devices, software, peripherals and endpoint security.

· Manage onboarding, offboarding, accounts, MFA, conditional access and least-privilege controls.

· Provide hands-on IT support and resolve operational issues quickly.

· Maintain IT policies, asset registers, licence records, support documentation and change-control records.

· Monitor security, patching, backups, data protection and business continuity arrangements.

· Ensure internal IT systems used by iQuila’s 24/7 support desk and NOC run smoothly and securely, without responsibility for hosted client environments.

· Support SOC 2, ISO and other compliance activities with appropriate controls and evidence.

· Work with the Business Manager / CFO and CEO on budgets, licensing, vendors, risks and planning.

· Lead IT readiness for new office openings and global expansion.

· Improve automation, standardisation and internal IT efficiency as the company grows., The IT Manager will have measurable objectives linked to performance bonus eligibility. Objectives will be reviewed regularly with the Business Manager / CFO and CEO, with bonus outcomes based on delivery against agreed internal IT operational, security, compliance, support, service availability and global expansion targets.

· Maintain high availability of internal IT systems supporting staff, offices, and the internal systems used by iQuila’s 24/7 support desk and NOC.

· Ensure new starters are fully onboarded with the correct devices, accounts, licences and access permissions within agreed business timelines.

· Complete leaver offboarding promptly, ensuring access is removed, devices are recovered or secured, and records are updated.

· Maintain accurate asset registers, software licence records, access control records and internal IT documentation.

· Monitor and improve Microsoft 365, Azure, SharePoint, Teams, endpoint security and remote access performance across global users.

· Ensure security controls, patching, MFA, conditional access and endpoint compliance are maintained and regularly reviewed.

· Maintain and review Cisco switch and firewall configuration, availability, security posture, documentation and change control as part of the internal IT environment.

· Support SOC 2 and ISO readiness by maintaining appropriate internal IT controls, evidence, policies and audit records.

· Resolve staff IT issues within agreed service levels and reduce repeat incidents through root-cause analysis and process improvement.

· Deliver regular reporting to the Business Manager / CFO and CEO on IT risks, incidents, licensing, costs, security posture and improvement plans.

· Support new office openings and global expansion by ensuring IT infrastructure, connectivity, user access and support arrangements are ready before go-live.

Requirements

· Strong experience managing Microsoft 365 / Office 365, Azure, Entra ID, SharePoint, Teams, Exchange Online, OneDrive, Intune and endpoint management.

· Experience managing Windows devices, mobile devices, software deployment, patching and endpoint security.

· Strong Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking experience, including Cisco switches, firewalls, routing, VLANs, IP addressing and troubleshooting.

· Good understanding of identity, access management, MFA, conditional access, role-based access and least-privilege controls.

· Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, cloud services, networking and user support.

· Understanding of cyber security, data protection, backups, business continuity, IT governance, SOC 2 and ISO standards.

· Ability to create clear IT processes, documentation, user guidance and support records.

· Commercial awareness around licensing, procurement, suppliers and IT cost control.

· Comfortable working in a fast-growing business with global users, remote offices and multiple time zones.

· Full driving licence, with the ability to travel to company offices, remote sites and supplier locations as required.

· Strong communication skills, with the ability to support non-technical staff and work with senior management.

Desirable Experience

· Microsoft certifications, such as Microsoft 365 Administrator, Azure Administrator, Security Administrator or equivalent experience.

· Experience with Microsoft Intune, Defender for Endpoint, Defender for Cloud Apps and Microsoft Purview.

· Experience supporting ISO 27001, SOC 2 or similar security and compliance frameworks.

· Experience managing IT for a technology, telecoms, software or cloud services business.

· Understanding of networking fundamentals, VPNs, DNS, DHCP, firewalls, routing and secure remote access.

· Advanced Layer 2 / Layer 3 networking experience, including switching, routing, VLANs, firewalling and network troubleshooting.

· Experience supporting hybrid or multi-site working environments.

Personal Attributes

· Hands-on, practical and willing to take ownership.

· Calm under pressure and able to deal with issues quickly and professionally.

· Organised, reliable and detail-oriented.

· Security-conscious, with strong judgement around access, devices and data.

· Comfortable working directly with senior leadership and staff across the business.

· Able to balance day-to-day support with longer-term improvement and governance.

About the company

iQuila is a scale-up technology company currently going through a very fast growth period. The company supplies and works with Tier 1 telecommunications providers and enterprise customers, and has offices in Cardiff and Reading, with plans to open an office in Dallas, USA next year. iQuila has staff scattered worldwide across the UK, USA, Asia and Australia, and uses Microsoft systems extensively across its internal operations. The company also runs a 24/7 support desk and NOC, which depend on reliable internal IT systems, but this role does not cover iQuila-hosted client environments. The IT Manager will be responsible for internal IT systems globally and will be required to travel worldwide as iQuila expands. The role requires someone who can work independently, make sensible decisions, build scalable processes and keep the company’s internal IT environment under control as the business grows across multiple locations and time zones.
