Job description

As a Senior Front-End Lead, you will make an impact by designing and guiding the delivery of scalable, high-performance web applications using modern JavaScript frameworks and patterns. You will be a valued member of a distributed engineering team, working closely with product owners, UX designers, backend engineers, and platform teams to deliver reliable, user-centric digital solutions.

Cognizant will only consider applicants for this position who are legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring company sponsorship now or at any time in the future.

In this role, you will:

Assist in Architect and design end-to-end front-end solutions using Vue.js, TypeScript, and GraphQL, ensuring performance, scalability, and maintainability across complex applications.

Define modular front-end architectures and reusable component strategies that support evolving product roadmaps and multiple application domains.

Establish and guide best practices for TypeScript, including strict typing, interface design, and reusable utility patterns to improve code quality and reduce defects.

Partner with backend teams to define secure, reliable, and efficient integration patterns with GraphQL and REST APIs, focusing on predictable data access and performance.

Collaborate with product, UX, and engineering stakeholders to translate business requirements into clear technical designs that balance user experience, performance, and delivery effort.

Drive front-end coding standards, branching strategies, and peer review practices across distributed teams to ensure consistent, high-quality delivery.

Support performance optimization efforts by analyzing bundle size, rendering behavior, network usage, and caching strategies across devices and browsers.

Mentor engineers through architectural reviews, design sessions, and code walkthroughs, raising overall team capability without direct people management responsibility.

Work model

We believe hybrid work is the way forward as we strive to provide flexibility wherever possible. Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3 days per week onsite at a Cognizant or client office in Andover, MA. The working arrangements for this role are accurate as of the date of posting and may change based on business or client needs. We will always be clear about role expectations.

Requirements

10+ years of IT. Strong experience architecting and building front-end applications using Vue.js (Composition API preferred) and TypeScript.

Hands-on experience with modern front-end tooling and libraries such as Pinia, Vue Router, Vite, SCSS, Tailwind, and component frameworks (e.g., PrimeVue).

Proven experience integrating front-end applications with GraphQL and RESTful services.

Solid understanding of JavaScript fundamentals and browser behavior, with experience optimizing performance and accessibility.

Experience collaborating in cross-functional teams within enterprise or large-scale environments.

Ability to document architectural decisions and communicate technical concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders.

Certification Requirement

Certified JavaScript Developer or equivalent front-end certification from a recognized provider.

These will help you stand out

Experience with backend technologies such as JavaScript/Java and Spring Boot.

Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD pipelines supporting front-end build and deployment processes.

Experience defining or contributing to shared design systems, component libraries, or micro-frontend architectures.

Knowledge of front-end security, accessibility standards, and observability practices.

Please note: This role will require an in-person meet and greet at our Cognizant offices or client location.

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT or equivalent
