One postholder will be proposed as CQC Registered Manager, subject to Board decision and CQC approval. The second will lead our assurance and audit programme. Both are recruited against the same specification. Tell us at interview which draws you.
Governance here is not a back-office function. It reports directly to the Board, and you will have a written right to escalate any patient safety concern without going through the executive.
About CB1 Medical
CB1 Medical is a CQC-registered specialist clinic prescribing cannabis-based medicines for patients with complex chronic pain and mental health needs. We operate a remote-first consultation model alongside CB1 Pharmacy, our dispensing partner.
A weekly Clinical Governance Forum, a ratified policy suite, a structured audit programme and named clinical leads are already in place. You will own that system, not build it from scratch., Reporting to the Chief Executive, with a professional line to the Medical Director and direct Board access.
- Own the governance suite: policy control, assurance calendar, risk register, evidence register and Board reporting
- Run the weekly Clinical Governance Forum as a decision-making body, with every action owned, dated and closed
- Run the clinical audit programme with our clinical leads: scheduled, sampled, reported, re-audited
- Own incidents, significant events, duty of candour, safeguarding and complaints governance
- Oversee medicines and controlled drug governance with the Medical Director and lead prescribers
- Manage every interaction with CQC: notifications, information requests, registration and inspection
- Lead our transition to the successor CQC assessment framework
- Use AI and digital tools to make governance faster and more reliable, Hybrid: home-based with regular scheduled on-site attendance in Leicester for governance meetings, audits and inspections. Job share and flexible patterns considered.
Requirements
Essential
- Experience as a CQC Registered Manager, which we will verify
- Experience of a CQC inspection, NHS or non-NHS
- Strong working knowledge of the HSCA 2008 Regulated Activities Regulations 2014 and the CQC assessment framework
- Demonstrable experience running a governance system through to completion
- Practical clinical audit experience including sampling and re-audit
- Confident with digital systems and an active user of AI tools
- Excellent interpersonal skills, able to hold senior colleagues to actions without friction
- Able to satisfy enhanced DBS and fit and proper person requirements
Desirable
- Clinical background, with a pharmacist independent prescriber background our ideal
- Experience of a CQC registration application or variation as the registered individual
- Independent healthcare or primary care experience
- Safeguarding lead experience
Clinical and non-clinical backgrounds both welcome.
