Job description

Leapros Skilled Trades is actively hiring Data Center Technician (CT1/CT2) in El Paso, TX. The Data Center Technician (CT1/CT2) is responsible for supporting the physical infrastructure of hyperscale data centers through structured cabling, hardware installation, and maintenance. This role requires an El Paso-based professional who is willing to travel to Altoona, IA, for an initial 3-6 month assignment before returning to El Paso for long-term local operations., * Support and complete all scheduled data center Moves, Adds, and Changes (MACs) including device labeling and power connectivity.

  • Install, route, and secure fiber optic and copper cabling according to design schematics and industry standards.
  • Deploy hardware components including racks, switches, and patch panels within mission-critical environments.
  • Provide smart-hands assistance for troubleshooting fiber connectivity, signal loss, or hardware damage.
  • Perform asset management and auditing, ensuring equipment and cabling are accurately documented in daily work logs.
  • Conduct daily physical inspections of the data center for general health, power distribution, and cooling hazards.
  • Maintain site security protocols and follow strict data protection and retention procedures.
  • Coordinate with project managers and leads to ensure deployment timelines and quality standards are met during both travel and local phases.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in cabling areas, raised floors, and cabinet exteriors.
  • Follow all safety protocols and use proper PPE in high-security and sensitive environments.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Technical troubleshooting support?, Do you have a High school diploma or GED?, * Must be a local resident of the El Paso, TX market with the ability to travel to Altoona, IA for the first 3 to 6 months.

  • 1-3 years of experience in a data center environment, telecommunications, or structured cabling (CT1 or CT2 level).
  • High school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • General knowledge of server and network hardware/components and copper and fiber infrastructure.
  • Ability to read and interpret floor plans, network diagrams, and cable schedules.
  • Proficiency with basic IT hardware installation and network troubleshooting concepts.
  • Strong aptitude for working in an independent environment with high productivity requirements.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and move equipment up to 75 pounds.
  • Must be able to work at heights, off of a ladder, and in confined spaces.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach for prolonged periods of time.
  • Must be able to see and distinguish different colors for cable identification.
  • Ability to hear and recognize audible signals such as dial tones or equipment alarms.
  • Comfortable working in varying temperatures including hot attics and cold data center aisles.
