Job description
- Install and secure server racks, cabinets, and supporting infrastructure according to design specifications.
- Execute physical ‘Rack and Stack’ duties, including the unboxing, mounting, and securing of server and network hardware.
- Perform hardware installation MACs (Moves/Adds/Changes), including device labeling and power connectivity.
- Route and manage copper and fiber network cabling within racks and overhead conveyance systems.
- Assist with the assembly of infrastructure components such as ladder racks, fiber trays, and cable management systems.
- Maintain detailed and thorough documentation of asset placement and cable labeling for auditing purposes.
- Ensure all work areas are kept clean and free of debris to maintain a safe operating environment on the construction floor.
- Coordinate equipment receiving and staging in accordance with set project plans and delivery schedules.
- Provide general support for site security protocols and data protection procedures during the deployment phase.
Requirements
Do you have a High school diploma or GED?, * Minimum of 1 year of experience in a data center, technical construction, or structured cabling environment.
- Proven experience with the physical installation of IT hardware (Rack and Stack) and cable management.
- Basic understanding of data center power distribution and structured cabling standards.
- Ability to read and interpret rack elevation diagrams, floor plans, and technical documentation.
- Proficiency with hand tools and specialized equipment used for hardware mounting and cable termination.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalency is required.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain high productivity in a fast-paced construction environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and move equipment up to 75 pounds with assistance.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods during a full shift.
- Must be able to work at heights, off of a ladder, and in confined spaces.
- Manual dexterity for handling small components and performing precise cable labeling.
- Must be able to see and distinguish different colors for cable identification and read small print.
- Ability to work in a construction environment with exposure to dust, varying temperatures, and noise.
