Datasheets Software Debugging Digital Electronics Firmware Hardware Design Schematic Capture Test Scripts Pcb Layout

Job description

  • Assist in running bench tests and bringing up boards. Meet with other team members throughout the day.
  • Assist software engineers and techs in the lab with the work they are doing.
  • Design experience is also needed with component selection experience.
  • Design and have built electronic circuits under the guidance of the lead electrical engineer.
  • This lead engineer has a strong understanding of how the circuit needs to be designed and so will provide reference designs to get you headed in the right direction.
  • You will need to possibly do some analysis however. And then you will do the schematic capture and direct the activities of the PCB layout person (you will not Client out the boards but you must review
  • them and direct the work of the layout person).
  • Check the paperwork and create ECOs to release it.
  • You will write the board validation plan and perform all testing personally.
  • These circuits are mostly analog, heavy in op amps.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of analog and digital hardware, including voltage regulators (linear and switchers), op amps, transistors, microcontrollers, high speed communications, and analog multiplexors.
  • You will assist in the bringing up and debugging of other PCBs in this program.
  • Ability to look at a schematic and determine how to e?iciently test each section, including to build custom test jigs to allow for fast testing of individual sub-sections.
  • Ability to work from minimal verbal requirements, capture those into written technical documents (IE write up test plans and spec) and then execute these test plans.
  • Ability to produce written test reports for these tests.
  • Ability to read data sheets for complex devices and then boil that down into what the software/firmware engineers need to do to make that chip work. For example for I2C and SPI I/O expanders and multiplexers.

Skillsets:

  • 5+ years experience designing, testing and debugging electrical hardware circuits (analog and digital), and systems to the component level.
  • 5 years min experience using oscilloscopes and function generators regularly.
  • Meaning at least a few days per month. IE 100 days over your career using ‘scopes, DMMs, power supplies and function generators.
  • Excellent technical writing skills including experience writing specifications and test plans Experience with schematic capture programs. Cadence is preferred., * Bachelors degree (required) in electrical engineering with 5+ years hardware design experience.
