Job description

  • Ongoing Services Provided.
  • Firewall Infrastructure & Security:
  • Daily Administration: Manage and maintain Palo Alto next-gen firewall deployments daily.
  • Traffic Inspection: Monitor and adjust policies for east-west and north-south traffic.
  • Access Control: Oversee segmented security architectures to safeguard City data.
  • Router & Core Network Operations:
  • Protocol Maintenance: Manage routing protocols, failover capabilities, and traffic paths.
  • Network Stability: Maintain dynamic routing environments, including OSPF and BGP configurations.
  • Hardware Oversight: Conduct routine checks and minor adjustments on core routing hardware.
  • Switching Infrastructure:
  • Fabric Management: Maintenance of the City’s Cisco Catalyst switch fabric.
  • VLAN Segmentation: Administer VLAN configurations to ensure capacity and reliability.
  • Traffic Prioritization: Maintain QoS policies to prioritize critical emergency and VoIP services.
  • Wireless Networking:
  • Environment Monitoring: Manage Wi-Fi infrastructure for secure staff and public access segments.
  • Controller Administration: Provide oversight of controller-based wireless management and analytics.
  • Coverage Optimization: Identify coverage gaps during routine operations across municipal buildings.
  • IoT Integration & Monitoring:
  • Segment Maintenance: Administer secure IoT network segments using isolated VLANs and micro-segmentation.
  • Telemetry Oversight: Monitor IoT telemetry data for public safety and environmental sensors.
  • Centralized Alerting: Respond to network alerts from centralized IoT monitoring tools.

Operational Requirements:

  • Change Management:
  • IT Manager Approval: Document all production changes prior to implementation.
  • Process Compliance: Obtain explicit IT Manager approval before modifying the production environment.

CCNAs need strong customer service and communications skills to handle support ticket requests, deal with outside vendors and communicate technical issues clearly. The tasks of designing networks, choosing equipment, determining connectivity issues and implementing security methods require strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Since networking professionals may deal with many issues at once, it’s important to be patient under pressure, self-directed and effective at multitasking. A willingness to learn is also beneficial, since CCNAs need to stay current and get recertified.

Requirements

  • Minimum of seven years of experience working with Network.
  • Security Plus certification required.

Desired:

  • MCSA certification.
  • Palo Alto firewall., * Ability to perform analytical and methodical research.
  • Talk and hear.
  • Regularly required to sit, use repetitive wrist, hand, and/or finger movement.

Clearance:

  • Selected applicants will be subject to a LIVESCAN and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Background Check:

  • Offers are contingent upon successful completion of professional reference checks, employment history verification, and background screenings.
  • The consultant will be required to be on-site and must be able to pass a background check.

Benefits & conditions

Salary: Hourly Commensurate with experience.
