Job description
We’re not here to make things look pretty. We design the tools thousands of Citi colleagues use every day - and when the design is right, people feel it.
As a Product Designer in our UX Design Group, you’ll work across the full design lifecycle: discovery and research, information architecture, ideation, prototyping, and production-ready design delivery. We’re also evolving how we practice - actively integrating AI-assisted tools and workflows to move faster and design smarter. The UX Design Group helps turn complex business processes into tools that are clear, efficient, and intuitive to use. We partner closely with users, product teams, and engineers to design experiences that reduce friction, support better decisions, and help people do their best work.
What You’ll Do
- Meet with internal users, product sponsors, and technology partners to understand requirements and uncover pain points in existing workflows
- Conduct UX research, define information architecture, map user journeys, and build personas that reflect the needs of enterprise users across global business lines
- Translate complex, data-heavy workflows into clear, intuitive interface designs suited to high-frequency professional use
- Identify and track metrics and qualitative signals that inform and validate design decisions
- Collaborate with business analysts, product managers, and engineering teams to brainstorm, co-create, and iterate on solutions
- Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs using Figma, Figma Make, and AI-assisted design tools
- Incorporate AI-assisted design techniques into your workflow - from generative ideation and content prototyping to using AI tools that accelerate research synthesis and design iteration
- Use and contribute to the approved design system, helping maintain consistency across a large and complex product estate
- Adhere to and help improve design standards and best practices
- Ensure all designs comply with ADA/WCAG accessibility standards
- Perform detailed design handover to development teams and provide ongoing support during build, with regular UX review checkpoints to ensure quality and fidelity
- Keep up to date with the latest UX practices, AI design tooling, and emerging patterns in enterprise software
- Apply a positive and constructive attitude to all feedback and sound ethical judgment to design decisions, including the responsible use of AI in the design process
- Deliver on time, proactively identifying and managing risks and escalating where needed
- Help to train and support junior team members
- Contribute to the wider UX community of practice
- Uphold Citi’s standards by assessing risk appropriately, adhering to policy, and escalating control issues with transparency
Requirements
You don’t need a decade of experience - you need curiosity, craft, and the ability to bring clarity to complexity. We’re looking for a designer who asks good questions, sweats the details, and genuinely enjoys the challenge of making hard problems feel simple.
Must-Have
- Demonstrable experience designing complex digital products, ideally within enterprise or B2B environments
- Strong proficiency in Figma, including familiarity with Figma Make or AI-assisted design workflows
- Experience using and contributing to design systems at scale
- Solid understanding of UX research methods and how to apply findings to design decisions
- Working knowledge of ADA/WCAG accessibility standards
- Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking - comfortable working with dense, data-rich interfaces
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to articulate design rationale to non-design stakeholders
- Experience delivering within agile teams
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with AI-assisted design tools (e.g. generative UI, AI-powered research synthesis, or LLM-integrated prototyping workflows)
- HTML/CSS development skills
- Interest in or knowledge of financial services, banking operations, or compliance-driven products
- Experience designing for internal tooling, operations platforms, or workflow-heavy applications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; Master’s degree preferred. Equivalent demonstrable experience is equally welcome.
