IT & Controls Support Specialist

SDA Lighting & Controls is seeking an experienced, service-oriented IT professional to join our team as an IT & Controls Support Specialist.

This role is designed for someone who enjoys solving technical problems, supporting end users, and becoming deeply integrated into a growing organization. Working alongside our IT Manager, this individual will quickly assume responsibility for many of the company’s day-to-day IT operations while developing a comprehensive understanding of our technology infrastructure.

In addition to IT responsibilities, this position offers the unique opportunity to gain exposure to the architectural lighting industry by supporting our Lighting Controls team during periods of lower IT demand. Cross-training will provide insight into lighting controls, project workflows, and building technology systems, creating a diverse and rewarding career path.

Provide day-to-day technical support for approximately 60 employees across multiple departments.

Troubleshoot hardware, software, printer, mobile device, and network-related issues.

Install, configure, and deploy desktop and laptop computers, monitors, printers, mobile devices, and other office technology.

Assist with Windows Server administration, Active Directory, backups, system updates, and endpoint management.

Maintain and support network infrastructure including switches, wireless access points, VPN connectivity, and related hardware.

Gradually assume ownership of routine IT operations while collaborating closely with the IT Manager on larger initiatives., Provide administrative and operational support to the Lighting Controls department during periods of lower IT demand.

Receive training on architectural lighting controls, project workflows, and systems integration.

Assist with project tracking, documentation, equipment databases, scheduling, and internal coordination.

Bachelor’s degree, Associate’s degree, technical certification, or equivalent professional experience in Information Technology, Computer Science, Networking, or a related discipline.

3-5 years of professional IT support experience in a business environment.

Experience supporting Windows-based environments, Microsoft 365, desktop hardware, networking, and end-user support.

Working knowledge of Active Directory, Windows Server, networking fundamentals, wireless systems, and cybersecurity best practices.

Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication skills with a customer-service mindset.

Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently., Experience administering Microsoft 365, Azure Active Directory, Intune, or similar cloud management platforms.

Experience supporting virtualization, backup systems, network infrastructure, and endpoint security solutions.

Experience working in professional services, engineering, construction, architecture, manufacturing, or technical consulting environments.

Exposure to automation systems, building technologies, or lighting controls is a plus but not required.
