Mechanical Design Engineer IV

In this role, you will serve as a technical expert responsible for ensuring the integrity, reliability, and availability of critical turbine components through advanced engineering analysis and data-driven decision-making., * Develop and execute high-fidelity Finite Element Analysis (FEA) models for gas turbine hardware.

• Evaluate components under complex thermal and mechanical loading conditions.
• Assess component performance and identify potential design improvements.

Component Life Assessment

• Perform lifing analyses including:
• Low Cycle Fatigue (LCF)
• High Cycle Fatigue (HCF)
• Creep
• Oxidation
• Fracture Mechanics
• Support component reliability and long-term fleet health initiatives.

Dynamic Analysis & Evaluation

• Conduct structural, modal, and forced response analyses.
• Develop and interpret Campbell Diagrams.
• Evaluate dynamic behavior and vibration characteristics of turbine components.

Root Cause Analysis & Technical Support

• Provide rapid technical support for Engineering Requests (ERs) from field and service teams.
• Lead or support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations to identify failure mechanisms.
• Develop and implement sustainable corrective actions and long-term solutions.

Technical Communication

• Present analytical findings and engineering recommendations to internal stakeholders.
• Support design reviews through clear, concise, and data-driven presentations.
• Collaborate effectively with global engineering teams working across multiple time zones.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years of relevant engineering design experience.
• Minimum of 6 years of Classic ANSYS/Mechanical FEA experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of Siemens NX (CAD) experience.
• Strong understanding of:
• Structural analysis
• Fatigue and life assessments
• Turbomachinery component design
• Engineering drawing interpretation
• GD&T principles and tolerance stack-up analysis
• Experience working with PLM or Teamcenter configuration management systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a remote, globally distributed engineering environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master of Science in Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience supporting gas turbine fleet, service, or aftermarket engineering organizations.
• Prior experience leading or supporting Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations.
• Experience supporting urgent field issues and engineering service requests.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, services, and operations teams.
