The Work You Will Do: Technical Analyst II / Office of Information Technology / Strategic Services The Technical Analyst role serves as a key liaison between business needs and technical solutions by analyzing complex systems, gathering and documenting requirements, troubleshooting issues, and translating business objectives into actionable technical specifications. It supports FDOT infrastructure by monitoring system health, maintaining servers and applications, assisting in system and network administration, and documenting findings to ensure reliable, secure performance. The position also contributes to cloud services and DevOps efforts, including work with AWS, Azure, Microsoft 365, identity and access management, and Azure DevOps repositories and pipelines, while collaborating with technical teams and stakeholders to ensure solutions align with departmental goals. Where You Will Work: Florida Department of Transportation Office of Information Technology / Strategic Services 3185 South Blair Stone Road Tallahassee, Florida 32311 Your Specific Responsibilities: This Technical Analyst position provides a bridge between business needs and technical solutions. Analyzes complex systems, gathers and documents technical requirements, troubleshoots issues, and translates business needs into functional specifications. Tests system functionality and creates technical documentation for users and Office of Information Technology (OIT) teams. Creates reports, and extracts insights that drive business decisions. Collaborates closely with developers, engineers, and business stakeholders, effectively communicates technical concepts to non-technical audiences while ensuring implemented solutions align with Department objectives. Support FDOT Infrastructure and Systems by assisting with the maintenance and support of FDOT servers, systems, and infrastructure components. Help ensure systems and applications remain available, secure, and perform properly by monitoring usage and system health. Participates in troubleshooting systems, servers, and application problems and escalates issues as needed. Helps evaluate system metrics such as availability, utilization, and latency, and document findings, including troubleshooting steps, configuration updates, and processes for team use. Supports clear communication of system status, updates, or issues to team members. Assists with server, application, and network administration by coordinating server configuration and management tasks with FDOT teams and contractors. Supports routine systems or software upgrades by following established procedures. Assists with basic steps in establishing connections, verifying access, and checking firewall and network configurations. Support cloud services and DevOps activities by assisting with tasks involving AWS, Azure, Microsoft 365, or other cloud services under supervision. Learn and support the identity and access management tasks and user access maintenance requests. Assists with maintaining Azure DevOps repositories, projects, and pipelines as directed. The Successful Candidate will have the following required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Information Technology asset management and inventory tracking tools.
  • Knowledge of Windows server operating systems, networking infrastructure, and hardware.
  • Knowledge of Disaster Recovery planning, exercises, and practices.

Ability to:

  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with customers and vendors.
  • Ability to log and track problems in a service desk database.
  • Ability to work independently, plan, organize, coordinate, and adjust work schedules to complete projects and other work assignments.
  • Ability to plan, document, and complete projects in a timely manner.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to interact with organizational structure.
  • Ability to collect, evaluate, and analyze data to develop reports and make recommendations.
  • Ability to solve problems and make timely decisions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to understand, deploy, and manage AWS, Microsoft Azure, and/or other cloud services.
  • Ability to support other Office of Information Technology staff, including architects and developers., Five (5) years of experience in computer systems analysis, computer programming or in planning or designing distributed computer systems. Post-secondary education may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
