Cyber Security Engineer

We are looking for a Cyber Security Engineer to support and strengthen the organization’s security infrastructure in Westbrook, Connecticut. Great opportunity for someone currently between jobs.

This Contract position focuses on protecting network environments, improving firewall effectiveness, and maintaining secure configuration standards across critical systems. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience with cyber security operations, firewall technologies, and Cisco ASA and Check Point platforms., * Administer and enhance network security controls to protect systems, applications, and data from cyber threats.

• Configure, monitor, and maintain Check Point and Cisco ASA firewalls to ensure reliable and secure network performance.
• Investigate security events, analyze risks, and take corrective action to address vulnerabilities and unauthorized activity.
• Develop and enforce configuration management practices that support security, consistency, and compliance across environments.
• Partner with infrastructure and technical teams to implement security improvements and resolve firewall or access-related issues.
• Review firewall rules and network access policies regularly to align protection measures with business and operational needs.
• Document security configurations, procedures, and technical changes to support audit readiness and operational continuity.

• Hands-on experience in cyber security engineering or a closely related information security role.
• Practical knowledge of Check Point firewall administration and support.
• Experience working with firewall technologies, including configuration, policy review, and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency with Cisco ASA in secure network environments.
• Familiarity with configuration management practices and maintaining standardized system settings.
• Ability to assess security risks, investigate incidents, and recommend effective remediation steps.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional technical teams.
