Job description

We are hiring for both the Lead and Technician level positions . Lead candidates will run the job site and direct the crew; Technician candidates will work hands-on alongside the lead, learning and executing installs under their direction.

The Lead Security Technician is responsible for running the day-to-day execution of projects in the field. At times you’ll lead a small crew of technicians, and you’ll coordinate directly with the Project Manager, GCs, and customers, ensuring each install is delivered on schedule, to spec, and to FIS quality standards. You’ll be hands-on - pulling cable, bending and installing conduit, mounting and terminating devices, prepping doors - while also setting the pace and standard for the rest of the crew.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and coordinate the on-site crew - assigning work, setting the daily plan, and keeping the job moving. (Lead)
  • Plan and install conduit (EMT, PVC, flex/MC) - measure, bend, cut, ream, mount, and route pathways for low-voltage and security cabling.
  • Install, maintain, and service door hardware - electric strikes, maglocks, electrified mortise/cylindrical locks, exit devices, REX devices, request-to-exits, automatic operators, door position switches, hinges, and closers.
  • Install and integrate access control systems (card readers, strikes, maglocks, keypads, wireless locks, controllers/panels).
  • Install and troubleshoot burglar/intrusion alarm systems (door contacts, motion detectors, glass breaks, keypads, panels, communicators).
  • Install IP video surveillance, networking, and low-voltage cabling - terminate, test, label, and dress to professional standards.
  • Read, interpret, and work from blueprints, schematics, riser diagrams, door schedules, and submittals.
  • Perform system commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and punch-list closeout.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with customers, GCs, other trades, and the FIS office team.
  • Mentor and train junior technicians - set the standard for craftsmanship, safety, and customer service. (Lead)
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site, vehicle, and toolset.
  • Track materials, identify shortages early, and communicate change orders / RFIs through the PM. (Lead)

Requirements

Do you have a valid Driver’s License license?, Do you have a valid Scissor Lift Certification certification?, Do you have experience in VLAN?, Do you have a Trade school?, If you’re an experienced low voltage and door hardware professional who takes pride in your craft, brings a positive attitude, and works well with a team - we’d love to talk., We’re looking for a leader who takes ownership of the job, sets the tone for the crew, and brings a positive, team-oriented attitude every day. Attitude matters as much as skill set on this role., Lead Technician: 5+ years of experience in low voltage, security, and/or door hardware installation, with crew leadership experience.

Technician: 1-3 years of experience (or equivalent trade school/vocational training). No leadership experience required - willingness to learn and a strong work ethic matter most.

For both levels:

  • Hands-on door hardware installation and maintenance experience - electric strikes, maglocks, electrified locks, exit devices, closers, hinges, and door prep.
  • Conduit experience - ability to lay out, bend, cut, and install EMT, PVC, and flex conduit to a professional finish.
  • Strong working knowledge of access control, intrusion, and CCTV system installation.
  • Experience with networked security systems (IP addressing, VLANs, switches, PoE).
  • Proficient with low-voltage cabling, terminations, and testing.
  • Ability to read and work from blueprints, schematics, and door schedules.
  • Comfortable running a job site, leading 1-3 technicians, and interfacing directly with customers and GCs.
  • Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset - leads by example, helps the crew, takes pride in the finished product.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions in the field.
  • Comfortable using hand/power tools, meters, and testing equipment.
  • Physically able to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work from heights.
