Job description

The Weather Systems team is responsible for providing second-level engineering support for two different weather radars. The TDWR (Terminal Doppler Weather Radar), and the WSR-88D (Weather Surveillance Radar 1988 Doppler), along with several other weather sensors/platforms, such as the AWOS (Automated Weather Observing System)., * Design, develop, test, and maintain software for weather system applications, including enhancements, bug fixes, and new capabilities.

  • Create automation, analysis, and configuration scripts/tools using C, C++, and Python.
  • Participate in code reviews, integration testing, and configuration management throughout the full software lifecycle.
  • Design, implement, and maintain LAN/WAN/wireless network infrastructure, including router/switch configuration and network segmentation.
  • Troubleshoot software, network, and hardware issues; perform diagnostics, validation, verification, and capacity/scalability assessments.
  • Support secure communications and system modernization by evaluating end-of-life hardware and recommending upgrades.
  • Integrate hardware and software in lab and field environments, document trouble calls and manage engineering changes from concept to deployment.
  • Develop technical documentation and engineering artifacts, collaborate with government and technical teams, and drive process improvements.

Requirements

All candidates must have the following to pass the Federal Background Investigation and obtain the FAA Public Trust security clearance.

  • Be a US Citizen.
  • Have resided in the US for three (3) consecutive years.
  • RealID Driver’s License/ID or current US Passport.

Relocation Requirement

Candidate must reside or be willing to relocate, at their expense, within a commutable distance to Oklahoma City, OK.

Education & Experience Requirement

All non-US Degrees must have a US Equivalency Certificate provided by the candidate.

  • Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
  • Three (3) to six (6) years of related work experience. Other levels will be considered for the best candidate., * Proficient in programming languages and scripts used in model and tool development (C, C++, Python).
  • Familiarity with HW system design, schematics and interconnects.
  • Experience with use of source control such as Git.
  • Familiarity with VLANs, VPNs, NAT, ACLs, and network segmentation.
  • Knowledge of network monitoring and diagnostic tools.
  • Strong understanding of the OSI model, TCP/IP comms, subnetting, routing, and switching.
  • Ability to:
  • Work independently, as well as a team.
  • Multi-task across teams in a structured environment.
  • Research and problem solve; willingness to learn/try new things
  • Communicate effectively through verbal and written communication; including developing technical documentation.
