This program temporarily reduces employees’ monthly base pay in exchange for paid leave credits. This position is subject to PLP 2025 and will have a monthly base pay reduction of 3% in exchange for 5 hours of leave credits through June 2027. The salary ranges shown on this job posting do not reflect the salary reduction. Working Conditions

  • This position in located in the Riverpoint Marketplace area of West Sacramento (10 minutes from downtown), near the IKEA. Our building offers a free parking lot to employees and is within walking distance of numerous restaurants and shops.
  • This position is eligible for a hybrid telework option, in accordance with CAL FIRE’s telework policy, and will be required to report to the office as needed/required. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.
  • This position supports a statewide, 24/7 public safety technology environment and requires the ability to respond to mission-critical service issues affecting CAL FIRE operations. The incumbent must be willing and able to serve as Manager-On-Duty and participate in duty officer rotations as required. The position may require work during evenings, weekends, holidays, or outside normal business hours to support incidents, outages, planned maintenance, emergency operations, or service restoration activities. The incumbent must be able to exercise sound judgment, communicate effectively under time-sensitive conditions, coordinate with internal teams, vendors, control agencies, and stakeholders, and make operational decisions appropriate for a public safety technology environment. Statewide travel may be required up to 5% and may include overnight stays., Note: Resumes, cover letters, and other materials will not be accepted in place of the required SOQ.   1. Describe your experience leading enterprise infrastructure or operations teams in a large or distributed organization that supports a 24/7 mission. Include team size and scope, how work was prioritized to meet service levels, how staff performance and development were managed, and the outcomes achieved.
  2. Provide an example of how you improved service management and operational governance for enterprise systems, networks, or identity services. Describe the issue or gap identified, how incident, request, change, and outage communication was improved, the tools or frameworks used, and how success was measured and communicated.
  3. Describe a significant infrastructure or platform modernization effort you led or played a key role in that involved procurement and vendor management.
