Job description

We are seeking an experienced Sr. Systems Administrator to provide expert-level infrastructure and platform support for our customers across on-premises and cloud environments. This role is responsible for delivering reliable, secure, and responsive services while supporting customer systems that include Hyper-V virtualization, Microsoft 365, SCCM, Intune, and Zerto for disaster recovery. The position requires strong networking and security expertise, including support of F5 load balancers and Fortinet firewalls, as well as hands-on incident response across Google Workspace, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and AWS. The ideal candidate excels in customer engagement, complex troubleshooting, and proactive problem resolution, ensuring high availability and customer satisfaction while collaborating closely with internal teams.

The candidate selected for this position will be responsible for supporting school teachers, students, and IT staff by delivering reliable, customer-focused solutions across Microsoft Office 365, Intune, SCCM, and Cloud VDI environments built on Hyper-V and public cloud platforms including AWS and Google Cloud Platform. This role also provides cloud and network infrastructure support, including Google Workspace, disaster recovery solutions such as Zerto, and secure networking technologies utilizing F5 load balancers and Fortinet firewalls. Resourcefulness is essential, as you will be expected to diagnose and resolve incidents efficiently, support platform outages, and communicate clearly and patiently with diverse interdisciplinary teams and end users. The ultimate goal of this role is to ensure each school district’s cloud and network technology infrastructure operates securely, smoothly, and efficiently in support of teaching and learning., * Install, configure, and maintain Hyper-V, Cloud VDI, and other cloud systems.

  • Manage network servers, integrations, and secure infrastructure including F5 load balancers and Fortinet firewalls.
  • Set up and manage user accounts, virtual desktops, and endpoints for teachers, students, and IT staff using SCCM and Intune.
  • Monitor system performance, backups, replication, and disaster recovery including Zerto.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve user issues, outages, and platform incidents efficiently.
  • Ensure security through access controls, backups, firewalls, and compliance best practices.
  • Upgrade systems, apply patches, and implement new releases or models.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, wikis, manuals, IT policies, and security guidance.
  • Provide training and technical guidance to internal teams and school district staff.
  • Manage support tickets, escalations, follow-ups, and client communication to ensure timely resolution.
  • Conduct and analyze penetration tests, security risk assessments, logs, alerts, and events, documenting remediation recommendations.
  • Escalate complex or recurring issues while ensuring proper documentation and follow-up.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Systems Administrator, Network Administrator, Helpdesk Administrator or similar role
  • BSC/BA in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline preferred or 5 years of experience
  • Professional certifications (e.g. A+, Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA), Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) is a plus
  • Experience with databases, networks (LAN, WAN) and patch management
  • Knowledge of system security (e.g. intrusion detection systems) and data backup/recovery
  • Ability to create basic scripts in Python, Perl, JSON, PowerShell or other language
  • Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude
  • Excellent oral communication skills and documentation skills
  • Strong competency with MS Office - Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio · Excellent technical documentation skills ·
  • Understanding of IT infrastructure and/or development
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Passion for learning and teaching. Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical personnel in a clear manner
