Job description
The IT Manager provides technology support across office, shops, and road crew operations to help employees work efficiently and securely. This role supports company hardware, software, access, business systems, reporting tools, and technology projects. The position serves as a key connection between employees, internal stakeholders, developers, outside vendors, and managed service providers. This role contributes to operational efficiency by improving system reliability, data accuracy, user adoption, documentation, and technology-driven workflows., * Manage day-to-day IT support requests in collaboration with SMC’s MSP for office staff and field employees.
- Support business-critical systems.
- Coordinate IT projects involving system enhancements, software integrations, infrastructure changes, and vendor-supported improvements.
- Develop, test, and maintain software that improves operational efficiency, data accuracy, and department visibility.
- Maintain IT documentation, task tracking, support notes, and deployment plans.
Requirements
Prior experience providing IT support, systems administration support, business application support, or technology project coordination is required.
Experience supporting users in an office, field operations, shop, or similar operational environment is helpful. Experience in software development and project management required.
Skills & Competencies
Strong troubleshooting, analytical, communication, documentation, and organizational skills are required. Must be capable of supporting hardware, software, user access, business systems, reporting tools, automation workflows, and technology-related process improvements. Requires proficiency with Microsoft 365. Must be able to translate operational needs into technical requirements, coordinate with vendors and developers, manage multiple open issues, and communicate technical information clearly to non-technical users.
Must have the ability to read, write, and debug safe code., Relevant Microsoft, help desk, cybersecurity, networking, or systems administration certifications are preferred., This position requires prolonged sitting, extended computer and screen use, and regular use of phones and office technology. The role may require occasional standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, or moving office technology equipment and supplies up to 20 pounds.
