Job description

Under the supervision of the Field Operations Supervisor, a Technology Field Technician will provide prompt technology services to TCSD stakeholders. The Technology Field Technician demonstrates superior customer service, competency to resolve issues with district technology, and strives to empower education through supporting the various technology and service needs of assigned sites. Essential Performance Responsibilities

  • Excellent customer service and commitment to providing prompt support and assistance.
  • Oversee Technology Help Tickets generated to assigned sites and provide best practice standards to timely resolve Technology Help Tickets.
  • Skilled with Chromebook diagnostics and repair. Demonstrates capacity to complete significant amounts of Chromebook repairs.
  • Is responsible to install and/or maintain district technology assets: student and staff issued devices; classroom technology such as desktops, laptops, multimedia devices, peripherals, classroom and site audio systems.
  • Maintains technology devices and assets through preventive maintenance, reactive maintenance, and repair or replace processes.
  • Participates in Technology Director’s high level initiatives of technology rotation, technology standardization, and student device deployment. Requires capacity to work with the Technology team to remove, install, and rotate district technology assets.
  • Ensures security is set on district devices and in compliance with security best practices as directed by the Information Security Officer. Assists with device investigations.
  • Works with the Inventory Manager to help maintain and control technology assets in assigned sites through the asset management system; and assists with district technology audits as needed.
  • Works with the Network Operations Center to install network equipment, cabling, troubleshoot network equipment, assist with configuration of network switch ports.
  • Assist System Administrator with field administration of computer operating systems, imaging, Microsoft Intune and co-management deployment, application software, and various programs.
  • Assists Help Desk Team with password resets, email configuration, active directory, and awareness of school and student information systems.
  • Works with and supports Department Secretary, Technicians who oversee administration of VoIP / phone, intercom, surveillance systems, other Field Technicians and sub-departments as needed.
  • Provides technical support to various school district staff members, faculty, and students. Instruct individuals for the purpose of ensuring their ability to use computer systems and new or existing software.
  • Conducts trainings and provides technology support as needed to staff, faculty, and students.
  • Performs other duties and related tasks as assigned.

  • Ability to follow oral and/or written instructions.
  • Ability to report work orally and/or in writing to supervisor.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and perform other arithmetic operations.
  • Analytical, problem-solving, and creative-thinking skills with respect to computer-related issues Work Environment

  • Works in standard office and school building environments.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs repetitively and be able to climb, crawl, bend, and perform other physical functions required of the position.
  • Must be able to be comfortable with heights and able to climb ladders, on roofs, plenum spaces, and in ceilings.
  • Must be able to use a variety of field tools, including power drills, general construction tools, network tools, and other technician tools used for installing AV systems and multimedia devices., + Valid Utah Motor Vehicle Operator’s License.
  • High School diploma/GED.
  • Related college or technical school coursework.
  • Significant successful related experience in computer and network installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Documented training in computer hardware, software, and network use, troubleshooting, and repair. Preferred Qualifications:

  • Customer service experience.
  • Experience in a similar role in an education environment.
  • Strong sense of initiative.
  • The ability to work effectively in team settings.
  • CompTIA A+ certification and/or CompTIA helpful, industry standard certifications.
  • Associates and/or Bachelors degree or three years of professional experience.
