Job description

The Mississippi Department of Human Services (MDHS) is seeking an experienced Programming Analyst/Application Developer to support the EBT/EFITS team. This role is responsible for developing, enhancing, and maintaining mission-critical enterprise applications built on Natural/Adabas technologies., * Design, develop, maintain, and enhance enterprise applications using Natural/Adabas.

Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
Collaborate with business users and stakeholders to identify system enhancements and process improvements.
Develop and maintain SQL queries and database objects to support application functionality.
Participate in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including:
Requirements Analysis
System Design
Development
Quality Assurance & Testing
Implementation
Production Support & Maintenance
Troubleshoot production issues and provide timely resolution.
Participate in the team’’s rotating on-call support schedule.
Contribute to continuous process improvement and technical best practices.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience developing complex, multi-tier applications, collaborating with business stakeholders, analyzing requirements, and delivering scalable technical solutions throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). This position also participates in an on-call support rotation to ensure the continued reliability of critical systems., * 10+ years of experience developing enterprise applications using Natural/Adabas.

Strong experience with SQL development.
Experience with SCL in a Linux environment.
Advanced experience designing, implementing, and enhancing large-scale Natural applications.
Experience gathering and documenting business requirements in collaboration with stakeholders.
Ability to recommend technical solutions and drive issue resolution.
Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
7+ years of hands-on experience supporting State Department of Human Services (DHS) systems.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills., Experience with the following is highly desirable:
Microsoft SQL Server
Unix/Linux operating systems
Agile methodologies (Scrum, SAFe, Kanban, XP)
Experience working within government or public sector environments
Additional Linux administration experience
