Job description
The Infrastructure Technician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and supporting Alyrica’s network infrastructure. This position performs a variety of field-based duties including utility locating, service repairs, tree and tower work, construction support, and emergency response. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude, a commitment to safety, and the ability to learn specialized skills through company-provided training.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in physical work, and wants to develop a diverse set of technical skills while contributing to critical network infrastructure.
Core Role Responsibilities
- Perform utility locating duties to protect underground infrastructure and support safe excavation and construction activities.
- Assist with troubleshooting, repairing, and restoring network infrastructure and customer services.
- Perform tree trimming and vegetation management activities that support network reliability.
- Complete tower-related work, including climbing and maintenance activities, following established safety procedures.
- Support construction, installation, and expansion projects for Alyrica’s fiber and wireless networks.
- Respond to service-affecting outages and emergency situations as needed.
- Operate tools, equipment, and company vehicles safely and responsibly.
- Work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions and terrain.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, contractors, and other departments regarding work progress and safety concerns.
- Maintain accurate documentation of completed work and field activities.
- Participate in company-provided training and certification programs to develop required technical skills., This position participates in an on-call rotation supporting infrastructure operations, including utility locating, fiber repairs, and tower-related work. On-call assignments may require responding outside of normal business hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on operational needs.
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn specialized infrastructure skills.
- Ability to safely operate hand and power tools.
- Comfortable working outdoors year-round in varying weather conditions.
- Comfortable working at heights, including climbing towers and working from elevated positions.
- Ability to follow safety procedures and properly utilize personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Strong work ethic, dependability, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Willingness to participate in ongoing training and skill development., * Previous experience in telecommunications, construction, utility locating, tree work, tower climbing, electrical work, or a related field.
- Experience operating equipment such as trenchers, excavators, bucket trucks, or similar machinery.
- Knowledge of fiber optic infrastructure and underground utility systems.
- First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain certification.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry 40 pounds for up to 100 feet.
- Ability to lift and move up to 150 pounds with assistance from another team member.
- Ability to climb ladders, towers, and other structures as required.
- Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and perform physically demanding field work throughout the workday.
- Ability to work safely in outdoor environments, including uneven terrain and adverse weather conditions.
