Inventory Management Software Marketplace

Job description

The eCommerce Demand Planning Analyst - Amazon & Marketplace is responsible for translating marketplace demand, sales, inventory, and fulfillment data into actionable guidance that helps HNI maintain the appropriate product availability to support its eCommerce and distribution partners. Sitting within the eCommerce organization, this role serves as an important connection point between external marketplace demand and HNI’s internal supply chain, inventory, manufacturing, and commercial teams.

A primary focus of the position is HNI’s relationship with Amazon. Using Amazon Vendor Central and related reporting, the Analyst evaluates Amazon forecasts, SKU-level demand trends, inventory positions, sales performance, and fulfillment expectations. This information is translated into internal forecasts, reports, and recommendations that help HNI determine what products need to be manufactured, purchased, positioned, or maintained in inventory to meet anticipated marketplace demand.

The role performs similar analysis for other wholesale and distribution partners using historical sales, partner inventory positions, order patterns, and other available demand signals. The successful candidate combines strong Amazon Vendor Central expertise with analytical capabilities, supply-chain knowledge, and the ability to translate complex marketplace data into clear recommendations for internal stakeholders., The ideal candidate is an eCommerce and supply-chain analyst who understands Amazon from the vendor side of the relationship. They are comfortable working within Amazon Vendor Central, understand the meaning and limitations of the demand, sales, inventory, and fulfillment information Amazon provides, and know how to turn that information into useful internal planning guidance.

They also understand the downstream implications of those forecasts. When Amazon indicates increased expected demand for a group of SKUs, this individual does more than report the number. They can evaluate that expectation against historical sales and current inventory, identify potential supply gaps, and work with internal partners to determine whether purchasing, manufacturing, or inventory plans need to change.

Successful candidates are particularly effective at operating between eCommerce and Supply Chain. They understand the commercial expectations of marketplaces and distribution partners while also appreciating the practical realities of lead times, production capacity, inventory investment, and fulfillment. They use that perspective to help HNI maintain the right inventory at the right time-supporting sales growth and marketplace performance without unnecessarily increasing inventory.
