Job description
- Manage and mentor the firmware engineering team, oversee control algorithm implementation, and lead testing, debugging, and documentation efforts
Requirements
-
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
-
10+ years of firmware development experience with real-time embedded systems, preferably in the motion control industry
-
Demonstrated ability to lead a small team in developing embedded firmware
-
Proficiency in C/C++, Verilog, and Python
-
Strong understanding of FPGA and/or microprocessor architectures, peripherals, and communication protocols (e.g., UART, SPI, CANopen, EtherCAT)
-
Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and embedded development tools (debuggers, emulators, oscilloscopes)
-
Familiarity with hardware design principles and the ability to read schematics and datasheets
-
Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to convey technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders
Desired Skills & Experience

Experience with motor control technologies such as brushless DC motors, stepper motors, and servo systems

Knowledge of control theory and experience implementing control algorithms for motion control applications

Knowledge of Functional Safety requirements, standards, and regulatory requirements related to motion control products

Our client, a leading innovator in motion control products serving the robotics, automation, and aerospace industries, is looking for a full-time Embedded Firmware Engineering Manager to help lead firmware development for its advanced motion control systems. This role combines hands on real time embedded firmware work with leadership of a small team of firmware engineers. This role is 5 days onsite in Canton, MA
This is a great fit for a technical leader who wants to stay close to the code while growing their people management skills.
