Job description

  • Lead and mentor a team of 2-4 firmware engineers to deliver embedded software projects.
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain real-time embedded firmware for motion control systems.
  • Collaborate with hardware, software, and application engineering teams to define requirements and system architecture.
  • Develop and optimize control algorithms for motor control, servo systems, and robotics applications.
  • Oversee firmware testing, debugging, validation, and performance optimization.
  • Conduct code reviews and enforce firmware development best practices.
  • Manage development processes using Jira, Git, Bitbucket, and version control workflows.
  • Support firmware integration with hardware and software components and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Maintain firmware documentation, test procedures, and technical specifications.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across firmware development processes and methodologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 10+ years of embedded firmware development experience in real-time embedded systems.
  • Proven experience leading or managing small firmware engineering teams.
  • Strong programming skills in C/C++, Python, and embedded software development.
  • Experience with FPGA and/or microprocessor architectures.
  • Knowledge of communication protocols including UART, SPI, CANopen, and EtherCAT.
  • Experience with RTOS environments and embedded development tools such as debuggers, emulators, and oscilloscopes.
  • Ability to read and interpret hardware schematics, datasheets, and technical documentation.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in motion control, industrial automation, or motor control applications.
  • Knowledge of brushless DC motors, stepper motors, and servo systems.
  • Experience implementing control theory and motion control algorithms.
  • Familiarity with functional safety standards and regulatory requirements for motion control products.
  • Experience developing firmware for robotics or advanced electromechanical systems.

Work Arrangement

  • On-Site
  • Standard first-shift schedule with a 9/80 work arrangement and every other Friday off.
  • Drug test and background check required.
