Job description

Network and Infrastructure

  • Designs, installs, configures, maintains, and troubleshoots infrastructure, server technology, email, web, and filtering servers, including operating system and application upgrades.
  • Monitors network utilization, error statistics, and system performance to ensure high availability, fault tolerance, and optimal reliability.
  • Recommends system upgrades and maintains expertise in industry standards, state-of-the-art architectures, and emerging technologies to support present and future district needs.
  • Collaborates with district departments, other districts, and partners on local and regional networking initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience maintaining technical documentation, network diagrams, operational procedures, and change management records.
  • Experience supporting enterprise-grade network infrastructure, virtualization platforms, server environments, cloud services, backup systems, and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of network routing, switching, VLANs, wireless networking, firewall administration, network monitoring, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and network security best practices.

Cybersecurity, Access Control & Disaster Recovery

  • Oversees security configurations, content filtering, and antivirus policies; monitors for security breaches or breakdowns; and maintains high-level access controls for critical systems.
  • Ensures security and confidentiality of computer systems and data while developing, maintaining, and implementing disaster recovery, backup, and restoration procedures.
  • Experience implementing and managing cybersecurity controls, endpoint protection, vulnerability management, identity and access management, and incident response practices.

Operations, Inventory & User Management

  • Manages accounts for incoming/outgoing staff and students, oversees device assignments, and maintains inventory control records for computers, hardware parts, and software licenses.
  • Maintains comprehensive, up-to-date documentation for system/network configurations, applications, operating logs, problems, resolutions, and prepares reports as necessary.
  • Department Leadership, Professional Development & Support
  • Serves as a technical leader, coordinates team projects, monitors performance metrics, and oversees technology assistant schedules across district buildings.
  • Provides after-hours, on-call, and remote support for mission-critical systems and assists users and technology staff across all district facilities.
  • Continuously expands technical skills through required training, and provides knowledge sharing and training to district staff as needed.
  • Projects a positive image of the district through a customer-service-oriented attitude and performs other related duties as assigned by the Director of Technology.
  • Experience leading technical projects, coordinating cross-functional initiatives, mentoring support staff, providing technical leadership within an educational or enterprise environment
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Director of Technology.

Requirements

  • College degree preferred - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Network Engineering or related field. An equivalent combination of education, certification, and relevant experience may be considered.
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible in network, systems, and infrastructure administration.
  • Certificate(s) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Networking, Cybersecurity, and/or industry-recognized related areas preferred.
  • Microsoft and Google Workspace administrator experience
  • MDM experience with Windows, iOS, macOS, Chrome, and Android
  • Experience with DNS and IP administration
  • Strong customer service skills with exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Successful track record completing network engineering projects
  • Knowledge of network management tools
  • Must be able to work unsupervised, be a self-starter, well-organized, and be able to multitask
  • Ability to remain calm in a high-pressure atmosphere
  • Ability to evaluate critical systems, prioritize work and determine solutions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to interpret and apply laws, regulations, and policies as directed

CERTIFICATIONS (Preferred):

Relevant technical certifications preferred (e.g., CompTIA Network+/Security+, Cisco CCNA, Microsoft Certified, or Google Workspace Administrator)., * Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize critical systems during high-pressure situations.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a customer-service mindset when collaborating with non-technical district stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects independently while operating within established financial and policy guidelines.
