Job description

Network & Infrastructure

  • Manage and maintain LAN/WAN, wireless, firewall, and switching infrastructure across two buildings

  • Administer DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and ISP circuit relationships

  • Monitor network performance, conduct firmware updates, and plan capacity

Identity & Cloud Administration

  • Manage Google Workspace for approximately 1,200 students and all district staff

  • Administer user provisioning and deprovisioning, OU structure, OAuth app access, and domain-wide settings

  • Coordinate account provisioning with the Student Information System (SIS)

Device Management

  • Administer the Chromebook student fleet via Google Admin Console, including enrollment, policy configuration, and managed app deployment

  • Manage the staff MacBook fleet using Jamf Pro device enrollment, configuration profiles, software deployment, and compliance reporting

  • Oversee device lifecycle: procurement, imaging, deployment, asset tracking, and retirement

Cybersecurity

  • Maintain email security, DNS filtering, and endpoint protection platforms

  • Manage patching cadence for macOS, Chromebooks, and network equipment

  • Lead annual security awareness training; serve as primary contact for cyber insurance and incident response

Phone System

  • Administer the district's phone system across both buildings, including extension management, voicemail administration, and call routing

  • Serve as primary contact for phone system vendor support and any upgrades or changes

Physical Systems

  • Administer intercom/PA, door access control, and security camera systems

  • Manage copier/MFP fleet including scan-to-email configuration and service vendor relationships

Budget, Compliance, and Support

  • Manage annual IT budget; coordinate procurement using state contract vehicles

  • Ensure compliance with NJ public contracting thresholds and Board approval requirements

  • Provide all-tier help desk support across both buildings for students, staff, and administrators

  • Support a staff population working exclusively on macOS: troubleshoot hardware, software, peripherals, and Google Workspace issues

Performs other duties as assigned by the School Business Administrator APPLICATIONS ARE DUE SEPTEMBER 30, 2026

  • This position is subject to annual appointment under an individual contract with the Closter Board of Education.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in a network/systems administration role

  • Demonstrated experience managing Google Workspace at an organizational level

  • Hands-on experience with Jamf Pro or comparable Apple MDM platform for macOS device management

  • Experience administering a Chromebook fleet via Google Admin Console

  • Solid working knowledge of TCP/IP networking, VLANs, managed switches, and enterprise wireless

  • Experience administering firewalls and network security appliances

  • Comfortable supporting macOS as the primary staff operating system

  • Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, and network layers

  • Ability to prioritize effectively and self-manage in a solo IT environment

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills

  • Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in a K through 12 public school district setting

  • Google Workspace Administrator certification

  • Jamf Certified Associate or higher

  • Apple Certified Support Professional (ACSP) or equivalent experience

  • CompTIA Network+, Security+, or equivalent certification

  • Experience with VoIP or PBX phone system administration

  • Experience with physical access control or IP camera systems

  • Knowledge of NJ public contracting law and procurement processes

Benefits & conditions

  • The salary range is $105,000 to $120,000. The salary offered will reflect the applicant's experience, qualifications, and skills.
