Job description

Under the supervision of the Director of Information Technology or designee, the IT Application Support Specialist provides technical support, maintenance, and administration for the College’s software applications, including Ellucian Banner and other enterprise systems. The Specialist ensures that all applications operate efficiently and securely, and that they align with institutional requirements while supporting users across multiple departments, Join a collaborative, mission-driven college community dedicated to student success and academic excellence. Supervisory Role Receives oral and written instructions from the Dean of Information Technology / Chief Information Officer or designee. May provide guidance or supervision to support staff and student workers., 1. Provide day-to-day support for college applications, ensuring stable and reliable system functionality.

  1. Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve application-related issues, escalating cases to vendors or technical teams when necessary.
  2. Analyze and research simple to moderately complex issues within Ellucian Banner, related integrations, and supporting systems.
  3. Assist with Banner updates, patches, releases, testing, and validation processes.
  4. Maintain documentation for application configurations, Banner workflows, technical procedures, and support knowledge bases.
  5. Create and execute test plans for application modules, upgrades, and configuration changes.
  6. Collaborate with departments to improve Banner-related workflows and identify opportunities for process optimization.
  7. Maintain application security by managing permissions, roles, and access requests according to policy.
  8. Develop and deliver user training, workshops, and informational sessions to support effective application use.
  9. Handle sensitive information responsibly and maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
  10. Protect student and staff data in compliance with institutional, state, and federal regulations.
  11. Prepare routine, special, and audit-related reports as required.
  12. Perform other related duties as assigned. Experience (number of years), Knowledge and/or Abilities

  1. Bachelor’s degree.
  2. Experience providing support for enterprise applications or business information systems.
  3. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose application problems.
  4. Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple assignments, and exercise sound judgment.
  5. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  6. Effective oral and written communication skills.
  7. Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment. Education Requirements Bachelor’s Degree Licenses and Certifications (including e.g., CPR, first aid, driver’s license, etc.) Preferred Qualifications

Experience (number of years), Knowledge and/or Abilities

  1. Master’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or a related field.
  2. Experience with Oracle databases, PL/SQL, and enterprise application environments such as Banner.
  3. Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, XML, Unix/Linux, or similar technologies that support application operations.
  4. Demonstrated knowledge of enterprise student information systems, preferably Ellucian Banner.
  5. Ability to write scripts or automation tools to improve processes and system operations. Education Requirements Master’s Degree Licenses and Certifications (including e.g., CPR, first aid, driver’s license, etc.)

Benefits & conditions

Compensation: This position offers a competitive starting rate ranging from $42,000 - $65,000.
