Job description

  • Research, develop, maintain, and update course materials covering server administration, network security, and virtualization.
  • Conduct classroom, laboratory, and field instruction for Basic and Advanced System Administration courses.
  • Deliver System Administration courses lasting approximately one to two weeks, approximately 7-10 times per year.
  • Conduct two-week CompTIA Security+ certification preparation courses approximately 7-10 times per year.
  • Conduct JCSE Communications Systems Training courses lasting approximately two to four weeks, approximately 7-10 times per year.
  • Proctor certification examinations for CompTIA and Microsoft certifications.
  • Develop lesson plans using government-provided templates.
  • Provide complete lesson materials within 10 working days of the scheduled class.
  • Provide instructor feedback to the government within seven working days following completion of instruction.
  • Provide instruction on VMware virtualization, dynamic routing protocols, BGP, VLAN/VXLAN, Spanning Tree Protocol, and software-defined networking.
  • Adjust instructional methods to accommodate student learning requirements and last-minute changes.
  • Maintain professional classroom decorum and report student absences and tardiness.
  • Ensure laboratory environments, servers, network equipment, teaching supplies, and classrooms are operational.
  • Coordinate with other instructors to standardize lessons and instructional delivery.
  • Evaluate student performance through practical exercises and hands-on laboratory activities.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in network security, systems administration, and virtualization., *, Active Secret security clearance or higher. Clearance must be current and maintained throughout employment.

Requirements

We are seeking an experienced Server / Network Instructor to deliver advanced systems administration, network security, virtualization, and communications systems training to Department of Defense personnel at a Joint Communications facility located at MacDill AFB in Tampa, Florida.

The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on technical experience in enterprise networking, server administration, network security, VMware virtualization, routing protocols, and modern network architecture, combined with formal instructional training or significant teaching experience.

This is a full-time, on-site position. Remote work is not available except during government-directed facility closures., Candidates must meet at least one of the following qualification paths:

Certification Path

  • Current CCNP, MCSA, or equivalent certification.
  • DoD compliance requirements for advanced administrative privileged access to network components and devices., * Minimum of seven years of progressive experience in systems administration and/or network engineering., * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, Information Technology, or a closely related field., * Formal instructor or teaching education, OR at least three consecutive years of teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated subject matter expertise in network security, systems administration, and virtualization.
  • Ability to work on-site at MacDill AFB Monday-Friday from 8:00 AM-5:00 PM.

Required Technical Expertise

Candidates must possess working knowledge and hands-on experience in the following areas:

  • VMware virtualization platforms.
  • Dynamic routing protocols, including BGP and OSPF.
  • VLAN configuration.
  • VXLAN configuration.
  • Spanning Tree Protocol (STP).
  • Software-defined networking (SDN).
  • Windows Server administration.
  • Network security principles and practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CompTIA Security+ certification. Security+ is required for instructors assigned to teach Security+ courses.
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or equivalent certification.
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator or Windows Server certification.
  • Previous military or Department of Defense training environment experience.
  • Experience with DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
  • Experience with the Risk Management Framework (RMF).
  • Experience designing, developing, or maintaining hands-on technical lab environments., * systems administration and/or network engineering: 5 years (Required)

License/Certification:

  • CCNP, MCSA, or equivalent (Required)
