Job description

Leidos is seeking a Software Architect who will focus on program CAS & FOSS (Commercially Available Software & Free Open-Source Software) and Dev Ops architecture. The \nCAS, FOSS, and Dev Ops Architect will join with other architects to provide high level design, process, and technical guidance to a team supporting development environments across a portfolio of Air Traffic Control programs, including the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) En-Route Automation Modernization (ERAM) system. \n \n ERAM is the heart of the Next Generation (NextGen) Air Transportation System and the pulse of the National Airspace System, helping advance our transition from a ground-based system of air traffic control to a satellite-based system of air traffic management.\n \n Responsibilities include leading the conversion of a legacy build processes to an Agile CI/CD pipeline, GitLab administration, execution of the engineering review process for software licenses; coordination and maintenance of the Software Architecture Document describing the environment and configuration of program COTS/FOSS. \n \n Primary Responsibilities\n \n \n

  • Maintain the Software Architecture Document (SWAD) for ERAM operational, support, and factory environments.\n
  • As CAS SWAD owner ensure CAS/FOSS data records are up to date\n
  • Participate in SIG/PRED preparation and reviews impacting CAS/FOSS\n
  • Consult as needed with software on design/implementation of solutions including CAS/FOSS\n
  • Shepherd FOSS process and be FOSS manager approver\n
  • Shepherd Non-Development Ite (NDI) process and own NDI documentation\n
  • Monitor licensing of CAS/FOSS and coordinate with legal as needed\n
  • Interact with other programs to share best practices with regard to CAS/FOSS\n
  • Monitor security and problem reports for system CAS/FOSS\n
  • Determine whether CAS/FOSS has any limitations with regard to distribution to the FAA\n
  • Actively participate and guide others in the refactoring of a legacy build process into a dev ops pipeline\n
  • Handle GitLab administration tasks\n

Requirements

  • Requires a BS degree in Computer Science/Engineering with a minimum of 8+ years of prior relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 6+ years of prior relevant experience will also be considered\n
  • Experience on a large-scale software development program in a software engineering leadership capacity\n
  • Demonstrated understanding of full software development life cycle as well as proven experience with supporting highly critical customer missions.\n
  • Understanding of SW configuration management tools and change tracking.\n
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and an ability to demonstrate a commitment to personal and corporate excellence, ethical behavior and integrity.\n
  • Planning and cost estimating experience\n
  • Experience with execution under Waterfall and/or Agile development methodologies\n
  • Experienced in GitLab administration\n
  • Previous responsibility for a dev ops pipeline\n
  • Experience refactoring a legacy build process into a CI/CD pipeline\n
  • Experience with GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins CI/CD, or GitHub Actions\n
  • Sonar cube and a SW repository (e.g. Nexus, Artifactory)\n
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux Administration with SELinux\n, n \n

  • Cost accounting / earned value management \n
  • Familiarity with the National Air Space and FAA NextGen Air Traffic Control programs\n
  • Background and development experience in ERAM Software Engineering, particularly Infrastructure and Support Software products.\n
  • Prior experience in ERAM SW process, ERAM SW architecture and business rhythms.\n
  • Understanding of OS, CAS, FOSS products and lifecycles, particularly LINUX OS.\n
